Don't get me wrong. I think Reason is an excellent producing program, but I can not manipulate the sounds to my preference. I am limited to the samples that come with version 3.0. I was wondering if anyone knows of any other producing programs that are more advanced. Please let me know. Thanks for your time. ;)

Re: Boredom with Reason

personally i think the over all sound of reason is really thin sounding, dont get me wrong it u push it u can get some nice sounding things out of it but its so dated now i persoanally dont bother with it, the sampler is handy as hell but u can do the exact same job using fruityloops if u know how to use it properly, i dont know why but i have always favoured fruity over reason as its exactly the same thing but fruity has more usable options but its a little harder to use and not as straight forward as reason, if u look at the drawbacks of reason then fruity wins hands down as u can use not only vst fx ( the fx in reason are total shit ) but also vsti, iu think this is why i preffer it to reason the most

I'd rather go for one of these. For a controller, that is. Velocity sensitive keys. Semi weighted, the O8 doesn't have that and they are really nice to have in a keyboard. Plus the pads at the top for making beats and triggers...very cool.

With the M-Audio Axiom 25 you get an array of MIDI controls in a USB-powered package that won't eat up much desk space. It has velocity-sensitive, semi-weighted key action with assignable aftertouch, 8 rubberized trigger pads for drum programming, 8 endless rotary encoder knobs, 6 transport controls, pitch/mod wheels, and a backlit LCD. It also offers assignable sustain/expression pedal jacks, octave up/down keys, transpose up/down keys, 20 memory locations, and USB or AC power operation. Comes with Enigma librarian/editor software for unlimited control of MIDI setups with your computer and Ableton Live Lite 4 music production software.

AND GO BUY ABLETON LIVE...YOU WON"T REGRET IT!!!!!!!

I have been using Garageband. Simple, but works pretty good for me so far. :)

Damn that looks nice!

Re: Boredom with Reason

yeah, i love the pads on the top of it too. I just wish they would make a controller pad with larger pads so i could play on them with drum sticks instead of my fingers.

I wanna find out how to make my own midi controllers, which I could do then how i wanted them.

Re: Boredom with Reason

start with Cubase, a little more advanced and u can still run Reason trough rewire...

#862494Post 13 of 30

Re: Boredom with Reason

or u want the ultimate midi controller get the novation remote sl series. the automap is pimp.

if u want to have fun with reason, go try to simulate supersaw with multiple maelstrom synths.

Re: Boredom with Reason

i don't have enough hands to really make that controller worthwhile. it is cool though.

thats what overdub is for

#863110Post 17 of 30

Re: Boredom with Reason

yeah and with overdub, i definitely don't need that many knobs. Cause some of the knobs have already been "Virtually" used.

Re: Boredom with Reason

i guess it depends on what ur wanting to control with it but i can see your point

#863327Post 19 of 30

Re: Boredom with Reason

yeah i can't imagine making music so complex that one would need that many knobs. 8 is enough for me, but I love the pads on the M-Audio controller. They can help with making interesting drum patterns.

well i got bored with reason too.. but by flipping the rack their are many interesting things you can do... i am a synth guy myself, but when i did use samples i did not like using reason... i love being able to cut and fuck w/ audio right in the sequencer window and add efx at will. but reason can be pretty cool when you really experiment with cabling different stuff together with the rack... if you want to know more i will do a little tutorial when i have a min 8)

Re: Boredom with Reason

i wonder if the guy has ever watched the video tutorial that comes with the program. it has some good stuff on it. I'm sure there has gotta be tutorial vids on youtube. But I would really like to hear and see your thoughts on turning the program inside out.

Re: Boredom with Reason

I use Reason all the time, to produce and for live performances. I don?t like the soundbanks that come with the program; don?t like how they sound, and everybody uses them. So, I have my own samples and percusions, and I use an Alesis controller. Nice and versatile. Alesis Photon X-25 http://www.alesis.com/product.php?id=15

Beautifull indeed! Curious about the price though......

Re: Boredom with Reason

while the arp/latch feature is nice and probably long overdue on a midi/usb controller.

come on' akai, make something with a XY touchpad, and some sort of automap like the novation SL

Re: Boredom with Reason

i'm waiting to find out about price too. But right now i'm more interesting in getting a guitar synth to help me in my controlling of Midi, as I can play guitar much better than piano.
