how is STEVE PORTER as a dj
id go see him, i have enjoyed his livesets.. if you have slsk i have a rip of his .audio set, its very good
Re: how is STEVE PORTER as a dj
i've seen steve i think... 5 or more times. each time has been different, but lately he has changed his sound to engulf more variation.
so the last time i saw him play... he opened with some real housey stuff. then went into disco house flavored stuff, some tribal, some basement jaxx, and then brought in more techier stuff.
over all it was a great nite and watching steve porter play is a lot of fun. he's a great person. very very very good dj. and really works off the vibes of the crowd well.
i'd definately go see him if you have the option. :D
Re: how is STEVE PORTER as a dj
Like Chloe said, he likes to hit a broad range of styles, but he always keeps a nice driving pace. Perfect if if you like to rip it up on the dancefloor. There are few in the business more passionate about the music than Steve. Great dude, definitely worth the price of admission and then some.
Re: how is STEVE PORTER as a dj

he pumps your ears full of good beats. Go See Him!!
saw him in June before Sasha and he was fantastic!!
Can't remember the date on the set but I have a GDJB that is one of my favorite sets ever. He fit 17 tracks in a 60 minute mix. All meat. Most of his other sets I've enjoyed as well. Definately go see him.
that was actually his guest mix from john digweed's show. it may have been re-broadcast on GDJB

That was a good one as well. The one I'm referring to is dated 10.21.2002 on GDJB. The mixing is amazing.
Yep, I'll echo all of the above - he's an excellent DJ, highly professional, great tracks, has a wide variety of sounds and a top guy to boot. :)
he always rocks it
Re: how is STEVE PORTER as a dj
I will be seeing him in Ottawa Canada this Saturday night.....and only 15 bucks Canadian to see him at that.......quite a steal

He's pretty good. His music goes to a lot of places. Definitely worth checking out.
that first portion of his .Audio set is just absolutely slamming
but it's all house no matter how you look at it...always top notch.
too bad he's not on here much anymore; he could tell you probably how good he is...

Cool...glad to see all the good reviews. He'll be here Sunday night, so as if I wasn't already amped to go I am now.
I'll let everyone know how it was.
Saw him open for Quivver and James Zabiela at Spundae in Los Angeles a year or so ago. Really good DJ.
His new 'Summer of Fun' promo mix CD is top notch. Sweet housey fun!
Re: how is STEVE PORTER as a dj

I like his remixes and tracks but I was not impressed with this one so far. Maybe it grows.

It's a bit more housey than I'm used to from his mixes but I really enjoyed it. Just seemed a bit different than the sets I've been listening to lately. Any idea what track is playing in between about 26:00 - 31:30? The guitar in that is just plain awesome.
Re: how is STEVE PORTER as a dj
Steve is a great DJ!!!!I love his music!!!! :LoveYou: He's my favourite Dj!!!!! :Bingo:

Re: how is STEVE PORTER as a dj
It seems as though NYC gets spoiled by Porter every time he plays here....a couple of weeks ago he was spinnin w/ Kleinenberg...and yesterday he was playing in a bi-level lounge place in lower NYC...but I'm sure he loves the NYC scenery..props to him
Re: how is STEVE PORTER as a dj
He is a great producer but I don't think the DJ sets I have heard reflect what his production is like. The DJ sets are not as trancy and banging as his production.
Re: how is STEVE PORTER as a dj
porter is good super cool dude too 8)
i think, that it's wasting time and money.... try to get to something better....
Steve Porter is great. if you have a chance to hear him live, do it.
