He is playing in my boring City on the 24th , since I hear alot of people talking about him and since I never ventured to listen to any of his sets, would you guys recommend me going to see him and what kind of music does he play :?:

Would you go see Richie Hawtin??
yes and techno...
Re: Would you go see Richie Hawtin??
Shiiit that means three Techno Djs in one week since I am goign to see Hawtin the 24th and Mills and Garnier B2B in Lausanne on the 29th, the Geneva region never seemed this intresting since i moved here.
YES. DEFINATELY. TECHNO. :Bingo:
hawtin is a pioneer for minimal techno, his stuff is great... if you like minimal (which i do) id see him in a second, but depends on if thats your thang or not ;)
simply no.
^ bah.
ignore him, if it doesnt have nice fluffy trancey breakdowns, he isnt up for it
lol. not true.
i just do not like Hawtin ... I have few sets of his and I have to force myself to listen to it. He is just not my style. Got respect for the guy, but I would rather read a Hustler mag.
Re: Would you go see Richie Hawtin??
Well from my experience I would say go!!
I saw him a couple of years ago at Axis in Boston and I was floored!!!
Re: Would you go see Richie Hawtin??
Hawtin is a must see!

 Bululu - don't miss him for the world. He's liable to do mind-blowing things at any time :) and for as much as I'm not the biggest techno fan, he has absolutely blown me away every single time I have seen him. A true master and as I've said before here, perhaps the best dj of them all!
Re: Would you go see Richie Hawtin??
Definitely see him. I wouldn't miss him if he was in my town.
Re: Would you go see Richie Hawtin??
went ans seen hawtin about a year ago in detroit...bad ass techno dj...very loud!!! pretty much to the point where it was annoying...stuck around for about 2 hours and bounced....but if you have never seen him...definitely
one day i will see him. his cds are brilliant in my opinion, i STILL listen to DE9 at least once a month, will never get old for me. i love the whole minimal thing so thats that, but he wont be coming to p-town anytime soon  one day though, i will be where he his, and he will blow my mind
the first and only time i've ever seen hawtin he played anything but minimal. he played some of the most wicked beats ever laid down on a dancefloor. massive buildups with huge explosions of sound. hard and edgy all night. July 4, 1998 @ Simons
Re: Would you go see Richie Hawtin??
Definitely go see him. He is truly one of the greats as far as Techno is concerned...
Re: Would you go see Richie Hawtin??
hell yeah! seen him tons of times and has never disapointed yet!
yes
now without a doubt.. in passed a chance to see him about 5 yrs ago.. there was a rumor going that he would be making an appearance here in dallas, but for now its only a rumor.
Re: Would you go see Richie Hawtin??
I'm not a big techno fan but everytime I've seen him I'm in awe. He brings such an energy to his live sets you can't help but have a good time.
Re: Would you go see Richie Hawtin??
.. what they said. a must see if you like your techno.
it was stated before, and i'll re-state it... he plays... VERY LOUD!! i hope you like you're hearing, because you won't be able to hear shit for days after seeing him live. ;)
Re: Would you go see Richie Hawtin??
:?: Does Hawtin sound anything like Carl Craig :?:
Re: Would you go see Richie Hawtin??
The Hawtin show this past July was definitly my favorite of the summer. Check him out for sure!
Re: Would you go see Richie Hawtin??
Hell yeah I'd go see Ritchie Hawtin!!! I've loved everything I've ever heard from him. Like some of the others I'm not the biggest techno fan, I don't dislike it by any means...just not my main thing, but I would definitely go see him if I had the chance.

I am the biggest techno fan.
Go see Hawtin or kindly remove yourself from the planet. Thank you.
Re: Would you go see Richie Hawtin??
YES!!!! Are you kidding? The man is a Legend.
Re: Would you go see Richie Hawtin??
Definitely go see him!
I?ve been blown away by that guy for years, ever since I got my hands on a live CD of his recorded in Canada, which he did for a Mixmag series.
I think he and Jeff Mills are the undisputed rulers of minimal techno, and even from a technological point of view it should be an interesting experience, since he?s using a lot of innovative stuff to do his set?s, not just 3 turntables.

GO. YOu will have a blast. Richie always delivers.
Re: Would you go see Richie Hawtin??

hahahahaha that is great! and i agree.
i miss the nights when Aquaviva used to open for him in NYC. those were bangin nights.
I never heard him live, but he got great sets on mp3 files, very fine house music, I would like to herad him live.

its not house at all. jeez.
I saw him a little while back playing with Final Scratch shortly after it launched. It was a Wednesday night, I was sick as a dog - but by God you wouldn't have known it by the way I was going for it that night.
He rocks. Absolutely rocks. Strongly recommended. :)
I wish Laurent Garnier and Sven Vath would return downunder too... Oliver Lieb is due around New Year, but he's not exactly of that standard.
Re: Would you go see Richie Hawtin??
I don' t listen to this kind of music at home but I see Ritchie regularly in clubs and he always delievers. October 1st he will play b2b with Ricardo Villalobos in the Robert Johnson club in Offenbach, Germany...can't feckin wait.
