So, how much caffeine would it take??
Not sure how these figures were reached, or even the validity of the findings. Just thought this was fun..

Re: Death by caffeine.
only 137 cans of red bull...
i'd be curious to see what LD50 they're basing that on
Re: Death by caffeine.
Is this 137 in an hour? A day? A single night out? What are they basing this off of?!
Re: Death by caffeine.
^^Exactly.....
Re: Death by caffeine.
^^^ In order for it to make medical sense, it should probably mean that you'd drink those 137 red bulls in such a time frame so that the active ingredient volume from all of the red bull cans is inside your body at once. So, you'd have to drink em pretty damn fast.
Re: Death by caffeine.
the only way they'd be able to measure it is a single dosage of caffeine, so it'd be all at once (within like half an hour). pretty sure the amount of liquid you'd need to drink would kill you before the caffeine.
Re: Death by caffeine.
I inject my red bull. How does this affect the numbers?

Re: Death by caffeine.
yea it's mainly all at once/within a small time frame...although it's pretty spot on on the 1gram bit...shaking/trembling, nerves shattered, hallucinations and the like can happen...you'd need to drop a few caffeine pills to achieve that (most have ~200mg/pill in them), as it would hit you quickly being concentrated vs. liquid in a drink.
Re: Death by caffeine.
I think it takes over 20 grams, so that's multiple blister packs of pure caffeine pills.
Re: Death by caffeine.
20g and you'd be long dead...

not according to these numbers

if you use the IPR-RAT LD50 of 260mg per kg, that means that it would take 20800mg (or 20.8 grams) to kill 50% of a group of 80kg humans. half would survive that dosage, half wouldn't (which is what LD 50 means...what it takes to kill half a population).
there is no doubt though, that it would be an awful way to go. i know what i feel like if i have one too many cups of coffee...can't imagine what an OD would be like.
