Re: Global Warming - Fake or Real

funny u should bring this up pickle, there was a program on the tv over here which was aboiut the ligitimacy of the global warming bonanza just a couple of days ago which brought up some startling thoughts on the bullshit that everyones feeding u about the facts and believe me it seems as if it is all tottally bullshit, co2, u know the thing thats allegidly the main cause of "global warming" accounts for less than an half a percent of the gasses in the earths atmosphere and according to that program it is impossible for this to be the cause of global warming....the rise in co2 is natural and the rise is due to a 800 year lag in temp changes and the main source of the rise is coming from the sea, this was prooved by showing evidence of graphs and stuff taken from records and placed on top of each other and the results were almost a perfect match, it takes year and years for the sea to heat up releasing co2 into the atmosphere this is why there is a 800 year lag, i,m probibly not explaining this well, i never do but the whole global warming scare only really took off when the goverment got hold of it and asked weather scientists to look @ climate and of course to recieve more funding they cooked up this bullshit

its the god dam sun thats heating the earth, talk about state the obvious

Re: Global Warming - Fake or Real

Please read below, the most important message I will ever mention to you about our society.

" The U.S. pioneered the public relations industry. Its committment was to "control the public mind," as its leaders put it. They learned a lot from the successes of the Creel Commission and the success in creating the Red Scare and its aftermath. The public relations industry underwent a huge expansion at that time. It succeeded for some time in creating almost total subordination of the public to business rule through the 1920s....

Public relations is a huge industry. They're spending by now something on the order of a billion dollars a year. All along its committment was to controlling the public mind....
...The corporate executive and the guy who cleans the floor all have the same interests. We can all work together and work for Americanism in harmony, liking each other. That was essentially the message. A huge amount of effort was put into presenting it. This is, after all, the business community, so they control the media and have massive resources... Mobilizing community opinion in favor of vapid, empty concepts like Americanism. Who can be against that? Or, to bring it up to date, "Support our troops." Who can be against that? Or yellow ribbons. Who can be against that?... The point of public relations slogans like "Support our troops" is that they don't mean anything. They mean as much as whether you support the people in Iowa. Of course, there was an issue. The issue was, Do you support our policy? But you don't want people to think about the issue. That's the whole point of good propaganda. You want to create a slogan that nobody's going to be against, and everybody's going to be for, because nobody knows what it means, because it doesn't mean anything, but its crucial value is that it diverts your attention.... "

Re: Global Warming - Fake or Real

WTF? why is this even up for debate? Of course global warming is real. It has been happening since the dawn of Earth. Equally, so has global cooling.

The crux of this matter is whether mankind contributes to this warming or not, or is it part of a natural cycle that has been occuring for millena....

yes its happening, is it human induced?...more than likely as there have been no other plausible explanations put forward by the nay-sayers (most of whom are funded either by hydrocarbon producers, or biased gov't depts).

Re: Global Warming - Fake or Real

kicking a dead horse here. It's very much real. A trip to your local metropolitan city yielding brown skies should clue one in to the fact that we contribute highly to CO2 emissions. It doesn't take a genious to know that CO2 traps heat. In turn, high smog levels = more trapped heat from the sun = high temperatures. Once again, you guys assume that it's only temperature in this equation when really there's multitudes of factors that attribute to the growing disparities in man-made global warming.

Re: Global Warming - Fake or Real

i think the theory and basic idea/conseption on global warming is fake but i believe in global warming

u have to think about that this is the first time science has studied this particular field, for me this is a big think but then again u have to think that the science is driven by goverment funding so that puts a whole different perspective on the whole thing

Re: Global Warming - Fake or Real

I'll put it this way. I am for finding alternate sources of energy to clean up the air, but I do not think that we are causing the planet to warm up. I think it's a way for politicians and scientists to make money, funding, etc.

There are contrasting reports suggesting that sunspots are at their highest levels ever. It's more likely to believe that it's just a cycle of the sun releasing more energy, being that it's been rising for the past 1,500 years or so.

the planet is warming but its not because of humans.

its not because I left a light bulb on last night or drive my car to the mail box.

And now the truth ...
The December 2006-February 2007 winter season temperature was marked by periods of unusually warm and cold conditions in the U.S., but the overall seasonal temperature was near average, according to scientists at NOAA's National Climatic Data Center in Asheville, N.C. Precipitation was above average in much of the center of the nation while large parts of the East, Southeast, and Southwest were drier than average. The global temperature was the warmest on record for the December-February three-month period.

Re: Global Warming - Fake or Real

one year doesn't count as 'the truth'.

the fact that 10 of the last 30 years have been the warmest on record since we started keeping track is no coincidence. neither is the fact that huge chunks of the antarctic that have been covered by ice for thousands of years are now breaking off and floating away.

as a planet we melt and freeze. we as humans have been on this planet for not even a fraction of time. I am not buying into this utter commie-liberal bullshit. no offense, but you don't know what you are talking about. i took atmospheric sciences for 3 years, some of which at a graduate level. solar irradiance has NOT changed measurably in the last 30 years. and we know what the temperature was like loooong before we were around. we have a very good idea about global temps due to the geologic record and ice cap measurments. by comparing the amount of O16 vs O18 (the two main isotopes of oxygen) in the rock record, we know how the climate was for hundreds of thousands of years, and how it has shifted. the fact is, while there have been wide variations in temperature, C02 levels, etc, over the earth's life...they don't change nearly as fast as they are now. that is, unless there is a major global event (ie. a comet smashing into the planet).

and yes pickle, breaking off & floating away of shleves of ice thousands of miles long is due to melting and nothing else.

thousands of miles long? do we have entire continents floating away into the middle of the sea?

Re: Global Warming - Fake or Real

More heat (Solar Output) = More vegetation = More CO2

As the ocean heats us the creatures in the sea are getting bigger because they are feeding more. As the planet heats up more vegetation causing more CO2 levels in Fall.
Direct Human impact is minimal.. But I'm all for the stopping of pollution because of other reasons like cancer, human defects, miscarriages, etc.... That's what I think from what I have researched (which isn't as much as I would like)
More heat (Solar Output) = More vegetation = More CO2
:Hmmm:

there isn't more solar output. its stayed relatively constant.

how does more vegetation = more C02??...it should equal less.

yup. whatever, its our kids who are fucked, not us.

#828123Post 33 of 76

Re: Global Warming - Fake or Real

no when the vegetation dies it gives off CO2.. Also volcanoes (Lets just say Mother Nature in General).. a lot of studies in canada are looking into CO2 affects on global warming and they are seeing that CO2 goes up 800 years after the temp has gone up..

Sun spots sounds like the big thing driving weather. Dr. Piers Corbin studies. and Solar Wind. Don't quote me on the vegetation because I've been looking more into Solar Wind and Cloud cover.

Re: Global Warming - Fake or Real

here's some thoughts that I have right now. it's late so they probably don't make much sense.

"Premises monitored by closed-circuit television"

"Danger! Falling rock!"

That was the closest comet to pass by Earth in the past 100 years!

That was the highest-grossing movie ever made!

Christianity. God died for our sins, 10 commandments, the bible is fact/definitive, blah blah blah.

John Smith wrote a bible during a lone encounter with God while walking in the Garden of Eden (the woods in Independence, Missouri). He lost it, so he went back to the woods alone, found God again, and wrote another similar one which was equally as divine.

Fiction writer L. Ron Hubbard wrote Dianetics, which established Scientology... the religion which believes aliens brought us here on spaceships the size of jets, mass murdered us in volcanoes, and let our spirits find new bodies.

During the alcohol Prohibition 100 years ago, the campaigns attempted to advocate that alcohol consumption be limited to a minimum to prevent unemployed, broke, and thieving drunkards from being social nuisances. Eventually the campaign became politically driven and more organized, and people lost focus of what they were trying to accomplish. Political propaganda turned it into a full abolishment of alcohol production, which eventually passed and lasted for between 15 to 40 years (depending on the state).

Iraq has weapons of mass destruction. Let's invade Iraq and take them back before we're obliterated!

We're causing our planet to heat up, and will kill out planet if we don't stop. We'll call it 'Global Warming.' More political propaganda. Why do all these people actually think we're causing global warming? Because we were told we were by politicians and scientists. The politicians are giving scientists more money = more jobs = more propaganda. Just because somebody says something to you it doesn't make it true. The biggest problem with the world today is that we believe the most retarded shit a person could possibly say, and believe in it so much that we'll actually FIGHT for it.

Every one of these have good intentions at heart... they all aim at making us better people. Thou shalt not kill, love thy neighbor, don't let alcohol ruin your life, don't let destroy 1/8th of the planet because you don't like a person, make the planet a cleaner place to live. They've all just been blown way out of proportion until we lost sight of why it was actually created to begin with. Now they're all living beasts that we can't avoid. Seriously, the bible and the book of mormon are STORIES! Sure alcohol is bad for you, but we have control over it. Iraq didn't have any weapons but we did want to invade them. Smog can't be good for our lungs, but temperature has been fluctuating for millions of years. 100 years ago none of our technology existed but ice caps were still floating in the sea. Just because we're alive to watch a huge ice cap float in the ocean doesn't mean that we're causing it. It just means we watched it happen and we want to explain it. That's it. I believe in making this place a better place to live, so it's a better place to live, not because of political propaganda telling me that leaving my front porch light on is causing ice caps to melt at a profound rate or because my ULEV energy-efficient 2003 vehicle-inspection-passed Honda Civic is emitting too much pollution into the world. Let's make energy-efficient light bulbs so we can use less of our natural resources. Let's switch to electric cars so we can use less of our natural resources and get rid of smog. Just please don't tell me that global warming is destroying our planet because that's what 100% of the local news reporters channels are feeding you. Reporters write stories that convey emotion for the public. They aren't scientists.

#828385Post 38 of 76

Re: Global Warming - Fake or Real

Earth is going to be here for awhile. We aren't.

I'm more worried about the planet being sucked into a blackhole than I am about the planet heating up to the point that it's inhabitable within our lifetime.

 are you serious? you're telling me that someone saying the ice caps floating in the ocean is caused by us is different from someone telling you that scientology is real? each one is just someone that believes in it so much that they'll defend it without reason. I'm all for cleaning the earth, but don't try to trick me into thinking that I'm fucking the earth up by using my air conditioner when it's 75 out.

I don't understand you guys. where do you draw the line? at what point do you say "that's fucking ridiculous" instead of "oh my god, you're right!"
