Re: Digweed/MSTRKRFT - Pacha, NYC

"killed it" seems to be a common description for digweaves sets lately. i have been saying the same thing about his pawnshop gig. wouldn't mind havin a day to roam through johnny's present cd case.

Re: Digweed/MSTRKRFT - Pacha, NYC

Yeah, mstrcrap wasn't best, but he still was good opening act to get the crowd warmed up or maybe he seemed good since the pacha dj's were just pure crap. Anyways, still awesome night thanks for the heads up on Sasha not playing.
glad to hear the nyc show went well because the DC show the night before was awful
he was talking about the dc show not the nyc. look at date and time of post...

#837391Post 61 of 88

Re: Digweed/MSTRKRFT - Pacha, NYC

was really worried about this night since the night before in dc was an absolute joke.

strolled in at a little after 2am and what perfect timing. he just came on and i missed mstrCRAP!!! all i can say is WOW! recognized a few tracks from WMC and the night before but just a totally different feel. it wasn't nearly as deep, dark, and twisted as his Pawnshop set at this year's WMC but I actually liked it better. (could've had something to do w/ my state of mind or lack there of in WMC, lol!) pacha as a club isn't the best, IMO! crowd was awful and layout is horrendous. however good ol' diggerz didn't let me down. was worth the lack of sleep the night before due to dc and the 3hr each way drive from baltimore to nyc. i also had to go straight to appointment for work on sunday morning at 11am then to a bday party for a friends child. looking back at how ehausted i was all day sunday from 4 hours of sleep since friday morning, i'd do it all over again...the set was that good!

Re: Digweed/MSTRKRFT - Pacha, NYC

Very happy to hear I wasn't the only one feeling that dark twistedness via 2001/2002. Think he's finally back to what he likes and f the rest, it seems to have had a positive effect on sasha after a few listens to the Ultrafest set. Great reports S& D @ Bonnaroo should be really weird

#837398Post 63 of 88

Re: Digweed/MSTRKRFT - Pacha, NYC

was there at pacha. horrible club in terms of layout but whatever. sound was decent. digweed was masterful and dark enough with plenty of edge. perfect mixing throughout but i too felt something was missing. i thought the set packed plenty of punch but he never got into the abyss with the super twisted evil peaktime mode. it could be just me but i've been to other digweed shows where i was just left destroyed... didn't quite happen last sat. anyway, i really feel digweed is back in form... after about 2 years of "searching" it seems like he's definitely found himself and the music he likes again. def sounded like it!

Re: Digweed/MSTRKRFT - Pacha, NYC

did sasha really show up?????? i have not been to a sasha show in over a year and am out of touch with his music. how is he this year?

i hung around til 7am when diggers wrapped up his set after 5 hours... i was hoping he'd go on for another 3hrs!

who were those pacha djs? the guy was actually decent but the girl was a joke! she couldn't mix worth a crap. sorry hun, pretty face just don't cut it, esp in a dark club where no one could see you anyway...

kinda mad i missed this, but eh,...whatever. work more important.

but glad to hear everyone had a blast, and diggers was on it. sleepy and boo? dunno, i have seen them a bunch in the last few.. never bad, but im surprised so many didnt like em. other forums saying hte same. which is weird. while they never truly blew my mind , they have always impressed to a degree, from this is good, to this is great. odd to hear they didnt rock it.

be glad you didnt get the other guy. all im saying.

Re: Digweed/MSTRKRFT - Pacha, NYC

oh, did he play any classic stuff?

last year he played the trisco remix of music, jondi and spesh connected, and a few otthers from science dept.
Yes, Sasha did show up.

dont open the proverbial can of worms. not everyone has to like em, you will only piss yourself off if yuou start the arguement.

how were you on sunday afternoon? alive?
oh, did he play any classic stuff?
i'm not sure whether you want to call this classic since the original is only 4-5 years old but he played "sinister - chimera" midway thru. not sure which mix but i'm guessing it's probably some new remix from this year? it was a sasha-like uplifting surprise track to me, which seemed totally appropriate when he laid it down. killed the floor

Re: Digweed/MSTRKRFT - Pacha, NYC

nice.

i was home with the lady listening to some various sets including chloe, some old digweed, romero and the mariano and gustavo material.

Re: Digweed/MSTRKRFT - Pacha, NYC

The sound quality is GREAT. All I can say about this night was that it was absolutely insane. It was without a doubt the best Ive ever heard Diggers play. From about 3:30-5:00 was just absolute fucking Mayhem. It was Daek, Twisted and Heavy as all hell. I was ready to pull my hair out, and he just kept killing it. He DESTROYED that place. Big Props to Zeronineteen who made the trip down with me. Also, I ran into DVS and Mike Poto. I uploaded the vids to youtube to make viewing easier. Enjoy

My only memory of Sleepy and Boo comes from the Movim party at WMC 2 years ago. I'm not exaggerating when I say that it was hands-down the worst performance I've ever seen in my life. You've rarely heard me talk about it, or blow it out of proportion, because everyone is entitled to a bad night, but that night was exceptionally bad. In the 60 minutes or so that I stood there I was privy to no fewer than 5-6 wrecks or miscues. One of them would be on the effects machine and the other would take the decks, and then they would trade off. Just plain disasterous.

they play a lot here, and i have seen them at least a dozen times, but never was actually disappointed.

Re: Digweed/MSTRKRFT - Pacha, NYC

The opening dj's weren't bad at all. MSTRKRFT walked right by me before they headed to the booth. I was really thinking of taking them both out so I didn't have to hear their garbage. Digweed absolutely pounded the dance floor. The rumbling heavy bass lines were pulsating through me. There was no place to run, no place to hide. The set reminded me of the Twilo fire night, my first time seeing Digweed. I have seen him numerous times since, and it was definitely the Digweed sound I love. Jay fury and I kept saying all night, "I just want to sit down!" We couldn't find a seat anywhere! Anyways still a massive night, big ups to Fury and DVS!
