Re: scumbag of the month award

It sucks that he's suing someone who has passed away but if that were me I'd do the same thing. If the dentist doesn't take it to court he will pay out millions from his own pocket.

Re: scumbag of the month award

^ Very true. I'd probably do the same thing. If Lidle had lived you guys probably wouldn't care. Chances are this guy will have to pay a deductible for his homeowner's insurance to cover the damage. But why should he have to? Was it his negligence that caused Lidle's plane to crash?
Welcome to America dude
You're not IN America bro...so you can't say that. It makes no sense coming from some guy in Belgium.8)

But yeah that guy is a collosal asshole. He needs to have his case laughed out of court. Suing a dead man...what's next. Suing his children or grandchildren for something the guy did 20 years ago.

If I were one of his clients...i would immediately find another dentist.

Re: scumbag of the month award

He's not suing a fucking dead man!!!!!!! He's suing the estate of a man that happened to die while flying a plane into the petitioner's house!!! C'mon, you people can't be serious!

Re: scumbag of the month award

Which is why if suits like this are filed you pay for the replacement of what was lost + the extra costs and that's it...you can go buy a lot of what was lost barring any personal heirlooms, etc.

Not try and get more or it all..

Re: scumbag of the month award

HOME OWNER'S INSURANCE OR RENTER'S INSURANCE!! think about it... the doc's insurance should be paying for his losses. if he doesn't have it, he's a fucking idiot. i feel horrible for corey's poor wife having to suffer through this on top of everything else she has gone through.

on the other hand, put yourself in his shoes... if you have the right to sue and you had $7mil damage because of negligence....................................

#813234Post 15 of 41

Re: scumbag of the month award

theres probably $500,000 damage to that apartment, lidle fucking crashed a plane into his in his shit, the denist should sue for damages and he will win

#813236Post 16 of 41

Re: scumbag of the month award

then along those lines, should the US gov't sue saudi arabia, pakistan, afghan and jordan for 55+ billion>? cuz that is the estimated losses incurred in NYC.

the guy has insurance, sue for the deductible. not 7 million in damages.

#813243Post 17 of 41

Re: scumbag of the month award

blah blah blah, should this, should that. No, the US shouldn't be allowed to sue the governments of the countries of residence of the hijackers/murderers unless it's proven that the countries issued direct orders for those twits to do what they did. Let the US sue the "estates" of those that were "negligent" though. Problem is that these idiotic hijackers/murderers/bombers/etc. mostly come from poor backgrounds which is why many of them join these cults/sects to begin with and it would just tie up needless time and money to go after them once they're dead. The US would stand to incur no financial gain from such a move.

and i'm sure the judicial system will say those words exactly if thats the case.... but if his insurance isn't covering the cost because they may not cover such an unusual claim (although after 9/11, i wouldn't be surprised if lots of insurances did have some sort of claim against planes flying into buildings), he has every right to sue. it's a shitty thing to do, i agree....... but it would also be shitty for him to eat $7mil because it's corey lidle that died. we don't know all the facts, so we can't honestly pass judgement on either party. initially, i agree the guy looks like the asshole.

Re: scumbag of the month award

For the damages caused to the apt. but for no more. $7 million is way to much in fairness.

#813268Post 24 of 41

Re: scumbag of the month award

owning 3 apartments that are custom joined together on the 34th floor of a high-rise in manhattan, which is no doubt furnished nicely.. i hardly think $7mil is out of the question. new york is car?simo.
For the damages caused to the apt. but for no more. $7 million is way to much in fairness.
I would like to see a breakdown of the $7 million he is requesting but let's not forget:

Damage to the apartment structure Damage to the items in the apartment Cost of residence while the homestead is being repaired Any loss of income incurred due to having to set up the entire process of repair, etc. Recouping HOA fees, etc. while the apartment was uninhabitable.

There are probably a few more miscellaneous items and granted all of those items combined probably don't amount to $7M but my point is that there was more loss than just a housing structure.

I agree with you there on suing for the deductible only, but unfortunately that is the way are laws are. You can sue for anything. Thats not to say you will win, but look at the chick with the McDonalds hot coffee. If they find that Cory was negligent in any way, this guy could win the suit. Its a shame to have this after someone loses a life, but some people think of only one thing and that is themselves.

Have you ever taken the time to read the details of that case? If so then you wouldn't be drawing an analogy because you would understand that McDonalds was negligent.

Sorry to draw this off on a tangent.... But was this the case where the woman was driving around with fresh hot McDonald's coffee between her legs and spilled it all over herself? And some jury gave the equivalent of a mid-sized lotto winning for it?

Actually we must be talking about two different cases. First of all the woman wasn't driving, so you obviously haven't read the details of the case. Second of all, McDonalds was found negligent for serving its coffee at 180-190 degrees Farenheit. Thirdly, the woman attempted to settle with McDonalds for only the costs of her medical treatment (which took 2 years mind you) and McDonalds declined; as they had during several other incidents such as this involving the temperature of their coffee.

Here read for yourself: (while not the perfect source, it paints a decent picture - read the details of the case itself if you want true enlightenment) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McDonald's_coffee_case

I'm definitely with Garrick on this one. The asshole should have enough insurance to cover this kind of thing.
