" Dear Red Cube Friends and Family?

We regret to inform you that John Digweed has cancelled his Portland appearance. We received word yesterday that John?s doctor deemed him medically unfit to fly and that he should not make the trip to Portland. All tickets will be fully refunded at their place of purchase. Again, we are truly sorry that we won?t be able to share the legendary Mr. Digweed with all our our friends here in Portland."

Better luck to you Cali-people this weekend. i am saddened :(

Re: Digweed CANCEL's Portland show

OUCH! that really blows...

if its any consolation, digweed missed a gig here in calgary in 2002...his make up gig a couple of months later was the best i've ever seen. absolute legendary stuff...

Medically unfit to fly?

Re: Digweed CANCEL's Portland show

John doesn't cancel without good reason.

He canceled a gig in Leeds last friday but played saturday. So long as he's fit in April, i'm happy.

Re: Digweed CANCEL's Portland show

^^^^Why would you be unfit to play one night, then play the following night? Sounds fishy to me. If the Doc told you to take a break, wouldnt you? Maybe he is having girl problems or some drama related shit like that. Has anyone heard if he is having ear problems again?

Re: Digweed CANCEL's Portland show

Maybe his hair got curly and couldnt find the necessary products or salons to fix it straight! :( ONce he gets over to "California" it would be all good. Plenty of that shit around.

Absolutely amazing. I change musical direction slightly to challenge your minds and you hate it. Eventually though most of you have come around and realized what I was trying to do. But you lot still can't lay off my bloddy hair!!! Do you rail Sasha this bad for his 9 finger forehead???

Digweed wasn't the one having ear problems, it was sasha, right??

and medically unfit to fly might just mean he has a bad headcold...you can't get on a plane if your sinuses are all plugged up, cause it will be painful as hell.

Re: Digweed CANCEL's Portland show

Yes , Sasha had ear problems after a car accident . I remeber in 2004 I drove 300 km to see him ,from Geneva to Zurich , you get there , you pay to get in and you end seeing a local Swis DJ (GOGO) all night long , now thats a dissapointment.

Im pretty sure Diggers has had a couple of inner ear infections.

Taken from another board-

John Digweed Show Rescheduled to January 8th Statement from Goldclub Series, Def Star and The Whiskey Nightclub

Due to a medical emergency, John Digweed and Tim Skinner will not be appearing at The 20th of November Goldclub Series event scheduled @ The Whiskey Nightclub Calgary. Physicians recommended John Digweed not fly due to serious ear infection and has cancelled all DJ gigs for this weekend.

However, the good news is that the show has been rescheduled for Wednesday, January 8th @ The Whiskey Nightclub.

Effective Friday, November 22nd, tickets can be refunded at point of purchase or will be honored for the rescheduled date of Wednesday, January 8th.

On behalf of John Digweed, Goldclub Series, Def Star and The Whiskey Nightclub, we would like to apologize for this inconvenience. An official statement will be on www.johndigweed.com shortly.

Re: Digweed CANCEL's Portland show

^ | heh, I drove for 3 hours to be at the original gig...only to find a local (cary chang) playing...granted he was good, but it was no digweed.

like i said though, digweed on the jan 8th gig was absolute mayhem.

as far as the inner ear thing...ya i totally forgot that was the reason. could be that flaring up again, as once you get that sort of infection, you become more prone to them in the future.

Re: Digweed CANCEL's Portland show

This is short of a nightmare to me, been looking forward to this for a while, total boomer, and I don't think theres gonna be any re-scheduling soon, well Portland will keep waiting for Digweed......

Re: Digweed CANCEL's Portland show

John cancelled Thursday.

I was at the gigs on Friday & Sat - he wasnt well on either of those nights & was out the doro straight afterwards. He maybe shouldnt have played & rested up but tbh he doesnt miss many gigs.

Yeah it sucks if you hoping to see him tonight, Fingers crossed for the Cali gigs this weekend.

Then why did Delta Heavy come into Columbus and sell out. Well Moda is now aparently a hiphop club...either that or it is totally gone by now. I don't know I don't live in Cleveland.

;)8)

Re: Digweed CANCEL's Portland show

Hey Andy - what was the Sankey's gig like, and how did you think it compared to Circus ? : Report needed !!

#812883Post 32 of 59

Re: Digweed CANCEL's Portland show

Circus was much better than Friday

He was more minimal edged on Fri & had more of a digweed sound on Sat. I think he was feeling a bit better on Sat as well, I spent quite a bot of time talking to him on Fri & between every mix he was like 'I shoudlnt be here'.

Sat at circus was good but it needed another hour really to properly kick on into proper full on. That said getting your coats afterwards was a mission

Re: Digweed CANCEL's Portland show

It would of sucked for a Thursday, so I think Portland did not get a huge loss. If it were on a Friday or Saturday would been very poor to hear. Also the venue truly sucks, one of the worst places in Portland. If any thing, most of us were saved from a terrible sound system , full dick security, a Thursday show, and probably a very sour night. I am actually thankful, and I hope they rebook at a better venue and a Friday or Saturday.

#813203Post 37 of 59

Re: Digweed CANCEL's Portland show

well that sounds like maybe it was a good thing. You know JD doesn't like to play on crappy systems.

#813209Post 38 of 59

Re: Digweed CANCEL's Portland show

It really is terrible. Blown tweets, and they try to make up for it by turning up the sound system. I saw Crystal Method there a few years back. I had to leave because the sounds was just God awful. I had a massive headache after 45 minutes. Don't take my word ... here are some reviews of the venue ...

http://portland.citysearch.com/review/8463913
The layout is ridiculous, the drinks are badly made and overpriced and the sound usually ranges from barely tolerable to unlistenable. The worst part of all is the over-zealous and amazingly rude security. Check your civil rights at the door, 'cause you will be man-handled like you're checking in to Gitmo wearing a turban.

i just went to keak da sneak and it was so sick but not as good as E-40 but it was still a sick but besides that the people where cool i didnt have problems with security ands everything was goin great. but after a gun fight broke out it was went really crazy

Went to see a show there in July 2006. The sound was horrible, the staff was extremely rude!! The band, Thievery Corporation sounded blurred, it was WAY WAY to loud, the treble was off the charts. I will NEVER see a show at this hell hole again.

The staff is rude to a "T". The security treat you like a terrorist. Besides my girlfriend and angelina jolie, I don't think I know anyone else who I want frisking me like that. Little too touchy feely and rough, if you know what I mean. I asked the guy who frisked me, if next time he might want to get my number first before he did that. They truly seemed annoyed to be working there. And that goes for most of the bar staff as well. I use the term "Bar staff" lightly. Being a bartender usually requires that you know how to mix a drink. Ugh! And the beer upstairs is unapologetically flat on occasion. Their reasoning is that they have to pump the carbonation ALL THE WAY from the first floor. Whoopee! Listen, if you're gonna charge me $6 for a 12oz. beer in a plastic cup, at least have the courtesy to put some carbonation in it. Oh, and could you please find a way not to srew me over while buying tickets? A $6 service fee for a $17 ticket, get real!

One person's experience of the Keller Williams show at the Roseland: rude, incompetent, intolerant, megalomaniacal security guards; dirty, washed-out sound overpowered by ambient drunken conversation; inefficient placement of seating; did I mention the Satanic security service? I don't care if John Lennon reincarnated plays the Roseland tomorrow -- I wouldn't be there, since I wouldn't be able to hear a word he sang and probably would be turned away at the door anyway. Never, ever, ever, ever again.
