Sorry can?t agree. Haven?t heard one Fabric Cd who I can recommend. Maybe James Lavelles and Craig Richards.

Re: Fabric 18

I got it as a review promo a few weeks back. I really enjoyed it. I was expecting just downtempo and trip hop stuff, but it actually goes all over the place, with house, some breaks, electro, and even a rock track.

Most of the tracks are by those three. Here's an actual review I wrote, to be published soon in Exclaim!

Baby Mammoth, Beige & Solid Doctor Fabric 18

Representing Kingston-upon-Hull, these three artists, known for their work in various lineups under these names and others, including Fila Brazilia, weave a variety of funky tunes, starting off with a cool downtempo vibe, before moving through house, electro, break beats and even a bit of rock. They place a lot of emphasis on funky, looped basslines, coupled with melodies from various wind instruments, including trumpets, saxophones and clarinets. Most of the tracks are by the three, in various incarnations, and many are unreleased, giving it almost an artist album feel, if they weren?t so able at switching genres. But it?s a mix, first and foremost, and I?d dance to it. Top tracks include Baby Mammoth?s smooth and silky opener ?Elephunk?, the cool clarinet-assisted break beats of Momma Gravy?s ?Sizzling Finch?, and the absolutely hilarious ?Stick It In T?Middle?, with a helium-voiced man repeating the title (you can figure it out) over some quirky beats.

just subscribed for the fabric series, cant miss out on weatherall's... heard that despite being in the NW US, its still cheaper to subscribe than get it off amazon

or maybe it wasnt part of the series but supposed to be a live @ fabric mix, similar to the one she released last year

#256748Post 15 of 20

dunno man, all i see on the fabric site is thru fabriclive 19, but dj heather does have a dj page on the site, so maybe a sign of something to come

my vote for fabric 20 is a special 2 disc mix by ricardo villalobos

and now that i finally heard it. i agree with myself. its weird. its not really music. more of a background noise at a yuppie coffee parlor.

Re: Fabric 18

I saw it on one of those fabric promo emails from a month or so ago where it just kind of listed their roster of djs to expect mixes from.

very excited about the weatherall one though, he is an incredible dj.

Re: Fabric 18

i'm with kez -- i think this is my favorite fabric since amalgamation of soundz (craig's last one didn't age well for me). and i'm sure the weatherall one will be even better. 8)
