Taken from his website

Dave Seaman returns to those hallowed turntables for his first studio basedEssential Mix since 1996 and it is set to be broadcast this forthcoming weekend on Radio 1 on Sunday 12th September 1am till 3am. The last which was with his Brothers In Rhythm cohorts was one of the best of that year so be prepared for another almighty instalment from Dave who has been furiously devouring all of the latest offerings from over 300 or so labels to bring you an upfront showcase of the music that is currently floating the Seamans boat ( Ha Ha). The mix can be heard by clicking the link below and if you miss it you can listen again on Radio 1.

Any chance of making this a special? I havn't recorded the essential mix for a few years now.

So looking forward to it :D

#254649Post 8 of 41

^ i do. incredible music for its time. its still very playable.

#254712Post 9 of 41

Everytime Seaman is promoting a new cd/mix he always seems to have 'gone through over 300 tracks' yet seems to play well-recognised tunes!

Re: Remember, Seaman's on the e-mix this weekend

My thoughts on Dave Seaman.

Loads of amazing productions over the years... until the group therapy tune this year ...

Always liked his renaissance mix cds. I think Ren 4, Awakenings and Desire and great mix cds.

Only GU I liked was Cape Town.

BUT.. every time i've seen Seaman play out he's been rubbish.

I'll give this a listen alright, but my expectations are not that high. :?

#254719Post 11 of 41

this mix should be very interesting. quite hit and miss for me is seamo.

#254728Post 12 of 41

Re: Remember, Seaman's on the e-mix this weekend

The time period between Therapy Sessions being mixed/licensed and release was quite a while, hence why most of the tracks were out.. wont be the case with this.. I will tell you that much for free..

Re: Remember, Seaman's on the e-mix this weekend

Was up late last night working and listened to the whole thing.... what a let down.

Average at best. But i'm not surprised. He's overrated, and this mix shows that. Just another prog mix. Nothing speacial at all.

If I was in a club, i'd have wandered into the other rooms to see what else was going on :(

Re: Remember, Seaman's on the e-mix this weekend

I've listened to this mix about 3 times now and I've been pretty impressed. Unfortunately I've not had the chance to see him live but on the strength of this mix I'd definitely make the effort next time he's in town :D

That must be a great feeling, but don't feel too bad...radio1 usually do a horrible job of posting tracklists to the essential mix and at least they had your track listed

Re: Remember, Seaman's on the e-mix this weekend

what does everyone think of this?

it starts out promising, but in the last few years dave has had the tendancy to err towards the cheesier end of the progressive spectrum. some of this mix is definately a bit close to the rind.

i remember seeing seaman at rennaissance 5th birthday, and he actually wiped the floor with sasha that night, but ever since he has dissapointed.

#255828Post 37 of 41

Re: Remember, Seaman's on the e-mix this weekend

I cant post a full review,as I've only heard it once, but i can agree with you on the fact that it starts out really promising. The jarrod/gilbey track and the dark globe tracks are brilliant, but the slacker track after that does nothing for me.Then it picks up again, before getting a bit poor, but then picks up again.Im sure on the whole i will like the complete set but there will be a couple of tracks that i will hate

Go to www.djmixes2k.com and head to the forum section. They have a bittorrent for it. Slid down into my computer at about 245k or so!
