dude you have no idea..... migration of 6.9 gig [ms] account died on me when it finished 6.7 gb, had to restart it which took the most amount of time.... I cant even start to describe the nightmare I had with the backend shit.... safe to say I got one fuck of a crash course in Linux Administration (as far as websites go  )

no, some DNS servers have not "updated" to obtain the new nameserver records but I did a query a on DNS REPORTS to confirm the new IPs are in place.... and the site confirmed they are.... so I dont know why your ISPs DNS server is not resolving the new server address if they have cleared out the old ones

Just keep pinging mercuryserver.com

(For those who dont know how - Click Start >> Run >> Type in "cmd" >> Type in ping.mercuryserver.com)

If you see the IP 66.36.231.163 or dont see an IP at all, you will get the error 404 error. If you see the IP 209.160.65.108 then you are all set.

When i get to the command promt and type in the ping code, i get- 'ping.mercuryserver.com' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

No luck getting an IP address that route.

Something else Ive notice is the images for the hotlinks in the reply box are not loading. Im gonna print screen and post-

Im sure you still working on stuff, so some of this may be irrelevant.

Also, MS image hosting link not working for me.

Sorry to keep posting this shit- but when I visit www.mercuryserver.com I get this-

Re: Welcome Back

sorry - its "ping mercuryserver.com" without the quotation marks.

That second image is just whack dude..... that dir structure doesnt even exist... do a Ctrl + F5 on the page and tell me what you see

Hmmm, works perfect for me now. I got the updated title page stating the site had been migrated. Not sure what that was about, sorry if it caused any scare, but that was what I was getting most of the day. Thanks for all the effort K!

Re: Welcome Back

actually I just pinged mercuryserver.com and got 209.160.65.108 as the address and I still get page not found. :NotMe:

#775472Post 27 of 64

Re: Welcome Back

^^^^BTW- Ping looks good to- for me anyhow, not sure about whats going on with Ruby.

#775473Post 28 of 64

Re: Welcome Back

did you guys do a Ctrl + F5.... try clearing your cookies, history etc. close your browsers, open a new one and then try coming back to the site..... because you have your cookies set base on the IP (http://209.160.65.108/~datta1/forums/) instead of www.mercuryserver.com - you might continue to see odd behaviour in your browser. Clear your cookies, log out, and try again in a new browser window

#775475Post 29 of 64

Re: Welcome Back

yes yes and yes and still getting page not found, but since it's friday nearing the end of work and a long weekend I'm gonna go with "fuck this til I get back" and deal with it then ;)

Happy Holidays/Merry Christmas everyone, enjoy! :Cheerz:

#775494Post 35 of 64

Re: Welcome Back

I'm stuck like rubyraks....I can't log in going to www.mercuryserver.com I get the same errors as he does. I tried several times today....I was lucky enough to have the 209 address in my address bar history.

I've CTRL+F5'd it...closed my browser, and manually deleted all my history shrugs

Re: Welcome Back

yeah, same here. Ping is ok, but mercuryserver.com gave me that strange index page. I deleted cookies and temps and from then on I can't even get in through the ip address. On my laptop that is. Am a bit afraid to clear everything on the comp I'm using now because it might stop working as well. Also, some images do not display and in the arcade I need to login all the time. And it didn't save my Toontie record!!!!  If you need any help Kamz, let me know. Am just as green on the subject as you are, but 2 heads are better than one ;)

Re: Welcome Back

Im getting the same problem as well!!! At work its a lot easier but here at home it literally took me 20 min to find this place!... I had to go to GU to locate!

#775517Post 39 of 64

Re: Welcome Back

yeah K. it's not working. you can ping mercuryserver and get results. but the "dirs" are messed. they are not pulling the index.html or whatever redirect you have in place.
