Yes this is a great set. I definitely have to agree with you, I miss the old sound. I do like some of his recent stuff but I find my self trying to tolerate some of his sound these days (especially the electro). Im not a big fan of the electro and have a hard time taking it in.

But I also try respect that the man is trying to be innovative and give us fresh stuff.

i agree, i dont like electro very much at all either, but you cant expect him to keep playing the same sound forever. i respect the fact that he is moving in new directions...

Re: I despearately MISS this sound of Digweed

whattt???? this minimal techy-proggyness is good shit. And hearing it on a sick sound system makes it better. He's still as evil as he was years ago.

Re: I despearately MISS this sound of Digweed

if his essential mix from this year doesn't get you juiced...i don't know what would. nasty house music.

when will you fucking people learn what real electro is and stop calling stuff you don't like by that name... jesus...

#770984Post 16 of 53

Re: I despearately MISS this sound of Digweed

None of the Digweed radio sets that I have listened to in the last few years have sounded anything remotely like Digweed live. I've seen him live at least twice a year the last three or four years and the radio sets don't compare. I've been expecting the radio sound and he delivers what amounts to an attack on your neurosystem.

Agree.

It?s that and when will people stop making these threads. I swear when I started reading it, I had to double check the date on the posts to make sure I wasn?t looking at some rehashed thread from a year ago.

Get over it.

Personally I dont see why it matters so much. If he wants to say how he misses a certian sound why shouldnt he.? This is meant ot be a 'chat' and if he feels like chatting about that then thats fair enough. You doint have to participate in the thread or even read it when it has an obvious title like this one..

Get over it. :p

Re: I despearately MISS this sound of Digweed

I totally agree with chuck , this year's only set that made me remember the real Digweed is the one from the Space Closing EM , I went through my sets last weekend and the only one's I still have are the ones from 2001 -2002 and 2003, the recent stuff I don't even care to download anymore regularly unless i see peopel talking about it. By the way this set from 2003 is really new to me , was looking for some intense shit on the dowload section. If you have suggetions for any dark stuff like that post.

I guess I had that one coming and I deserved it.

I was probably more irritated by people still calling what Digweed plays electro, than what the original poster said, so I apologize.

I almost mentioned something about this...

I still like listening to some of that old stuff, but I got tired of most progressive even before Digweed switched a lot of things up. It's about the beats and the rhythms...the beats are a central part of what got me into this and keep me interested in this music. And I found more of interest in that realm in minimal.

#771906Post 32 of 53

Re: I despearately MISS this sound of Digweed

i am thankful he does not play the same stuff. first i would be burned out by now, and also it is nice to relfect on the younger years of Digweed. I would hate to have the same constant sound from a dj. what a boring thing to even ask for.

#772114Post 33 of 53

Re: I despearately MISS this sound of Digweed

i still like the sound of digweed, this year's essentialmix, and the live sets he broadcasted on kiss were great plus, i still manage to find good tunes in digweed kiss100 shows, so it's all good many djs chance, sasha isnt the same he was 5 years ago, james holden, carl cox, yunus these are just the few i folow for some years and now, they sound different from what i used to hear from them i think it's because the electro, minimal thing that evolved verry much these years defenetely, this year was the minimal year just like the previous was electro i thing 2007 will be about house, just a lucky guess

Re: I despearately MISS this sound of Digweed

For me the best digweed set/sound ever was his EM in 2002 @ Bedrock Bday party @ heaven, i was there that nite and both the nite & EM are Top class. However i do still like 80% of Digweed live sets that i've heard in the last 2 years.

Re: I despearately MISS this sound of Digweed

Why are you guys trying to pigeon hole the poor guy! He's a DJ, a working DJ at that! he gets paid to rock out and do what he does best.

Regardless of what 'genre' he's playing, he's still bringing the same groove and mood to every set he does.

AND, if you are so hooked on 'one' sound, then you shouldn't be blaming a DJ for changing what he plays. These guys are about moving forward and playing new tunes, not about looking to the past and doing something they've done before.

FFS! If he was still playing the same records he did 5,6,7 years ago he would have hung himself by now I'm sure.

There are two types of people in club land, those who follow the DJ and those who are close minded and only limit themselves to one genre.

Cheers!

Unless it's trance of course. lol jk

But true on that. I prefer innovation over artistic stagnancy, just as long as his sets keep on rocking out, the man had and still has my respect. :)
