I honestly don't want anything. I'm very much looking forward to hanging out with my family for a couple of days, throwing back some nice bottles of wine while eating some really good food, hanging out with my close friends, the wife and i enjoying not working over the holidays, etc.

This whole "gotta make a list of people to buy presents for" is getting out of order and taking a lot out of what the holidays are really about to me, especially when my mother calls and asks for suggestions of what we want, or my brother calls my mother to ask what we want, etc etc. What's the fucking point in that??

I am really going to enjoy buying my 3yr old neice a present, because she's a kid, and i get that part of christmas, but as adults, i'm finding this whole gift exchange thing to be a little ridiculous. Save your money, and get whatever you want for yourself, and lets all just get together for a few days and enjoy catching up and being around friends and family.

I always get these calls, too, but I always give the same answer: "I dunno. Nothing comes to mind." It reminds me that although, sure, there are always things that could be added to my list of stuff, we really don't want for anything in the big picture and are very, very fortunate. When I was a kid, I could tell you exactly what I wanted for Christmas, and could churn out a list of stuff on command. Now, I just shrug. The thing I want more than anything else is time.

Although the gift-receiving thing doesn't have the same significance as it once did, I have really come to enjoy the giving of gifts. The wife and I are going to be out of town for our family Christmases the next two weekends in a row and some of the gifts we'll be receiving are accessories for the things we were getting each other, so we went ahead and celebrated our Christmas yesterday. I can honestly say that I was much, much more excited about seeing her reaction to her gifts than I was about receiving anything myself, especially the ones that she had no idea were coming. That, plus the experience of sitting around the tree, sipping hot chocolate whilst listening to Xmas music is what I'll remember, not that this is the year I got X, Y & Z. That's not to say that I didn't get some great gear, but, well, you get the point.

From a raw entertainment standpoint, though, the best reaction, by far, was our dog's reaction to his squeak toy. We don't normally give him toys that squeak because the moment he hears that squeak, he's on a mission from God to make it stop and will destroy it within a matter of moments. In those few moments, though, he's having a freaking ball, so we give them to him on special occasions. The thing accidentally squeaked before we even got it out of his stocking, and it was friggin' ON. He had a blast, it was really fun to watch. Such a spazz...

Is that what it's like when you have kids? ;)

a bit expensive but for a guy like u who has a shit load of cd's in ur collection it would cut down the space needed dramaticaly man, i think the latest size for 1 disc is around 50gig and its growing
