Have you ever wondered why Coke comes with a smile? It?s because it gets you high. They took the cocaine out almost a hundred years ago. You know why? It was redundant. * In The First 10 minutes: 10 teaspoons of sugar hit your system. (100% of your recommended daily intake.) You don?t immediately vomit from the overwhelming sweetness because phosphoric acid cuts the flavor allowing you to keep it down. * 20 minutes: Your blood sugar spikes, causing an insulin burst. Your liver responds to this by turning any sugar it can get it?s hands on into fat. (There?s plenty of that at this particular moment) * 40 minutes: Caffeine absorption is complete. Your pupils dilate, your blood pressure rises, as a response your livers dumps more sugar into your bloodstream. The adenosine receptors in your brain are now blocked preventing drowsiness. * 45 minutes: Your body ups your dopamine production stimulating the pleasure centers of your brain. This is physically the same way heroin works, by the way. * >60 minutes: The phosphoric acid binds calcium, magnesium and zinc in your lower intestine, providing a further boost in metabolism. This is compounded by high doses of sugar and artificial sweeteners also increasing the urinary excretion of calcium. * >60 Minutes: The caffeine?s diuretic properties come into play. (It makes you have to pee.) It is now assured that you?ll evacuate the bonded calcium, magnesium and zinc that was headed to your bones as well as sodium, electrolyte and water. * >60 minutes: As the rave inside of you dies down you?ll start to have a sugar crash. You may become irritable and/or sluggish. You?ve also now, literally, pissed away all the water that was in the Coke. But not before infusing it with valuable nutrients your body could have used for things like even having the ability to hydrate your system or build strong bones and teeth. This will all be followed by a caffeine crash in the next few hours. (As little as two if you?re a smoker.) But, hey, have another Coke, it?ll make you feel better.

Thirsty? Have a Coke
Re: Thirsty? Have a Coke
Wierd to think that the coke in a JD and coke will fuck you up a hell of a lot more than the JD
Re: Thirsty? Have a Coke
The fact that it will totally clean a filthy coin just by leaving it in the glass is enough to put me off. Also, when I was in Asia a local way to sort out an upset stomach was to drink coke, to kill the bacteria!!!!
Re: Thirsty? Have a Coke
dont forget the stuff eats battery acid...
Re: Thirsty? Have a Coke
dont forget the stuff eats battery acid...
what are you raving about? coke is acid. never hear of an acid "eating" an other acid... moreover, battery acid is a solution which consists of +/- 51% sulphuric acid. I'd rather not have that shit in the pepsi challenge...
Re: Thirsty? Have a Coke
Kinky, Coke is evil, it eats anything. it will even chase you down if you don't drink it
Re: Thirsty? Have a Coke
Coca cola Syrup has been used for decades to soothe an upset stomach-it does work I grew up with that remedy

Yes, thats why its dangerous to give it to children under the age of 12. I've heard stories back home how excessive intake of Coke can severely hamper bone development in young adults/children.

whoever wrote this is more interested in scaring you than the facts, cause this is the most rediculous thing i've ever heard. cocacola and heroin having the same affects on your brain!? heroin binds to opiod receptors (mu, kappa, and delta) causing pain relieft, along with dopamine release. heroin and other opiates and far, FAR more addictive than softdrinks. to imply otherwise is sensationalism at its worst.
Also, when I was in Asia a local way to sort out an upset stomach was to drink coke, to kill the bacteria!!!!
thats completely untrue. coke will not kill bacteria. its just the carbonation aiding an upset stomach in the same manner an alkaseltzer tablet might.

Really? Recently I checked that 100ml of coke has approximately the same amount of kcal as the same quantity of apple juice. Somehow nobody talks about 15 teaspoons of sugar there. It's not the sugar in one glass of coke that will make you fat. It's a myth. The problem is that usually people don't stop at 1 glass but buy a 1,5 bottle. Same thing is involved in the beer belly effect ;) 100ml of beer is about 50 kcal = 100 ml of juice = 100ml of coke. But while 100-200ml of juice seems enough, even 300ml of beer is less than not enough
Btw, I hate coke. I don't get how people might drink it. It's so damn sweet.

you also need to look at the type of sugar in drinks. processed sugar (sucrose) is much worse for you than natural sugars like fructose, which are found in fruit juices like orange or apple. processed sugar is the reason soft drinks act so fast. its absorbed and hits the blood stream very quickly. fructose requires a longer period of time to be broken down by the body and so doesn't 'hit you all at once', as it were, but provides a moderate amount of sugar over a longer period of time.

well, its got a crapload of artificial sugar, just like coke. and about 3x as much caffine (as much as a cup of coffee). there have also been reports about it being bad for your heart. taurine is another ingreedient that might be harmful in larger quantities...
drinking more than 1 or two a day is definitely not advisable.
Re: Thirsty? Have a Coke
Drinking 1 or 2 a day is definately not advisable!
It amazes me how many times I go over to someone's house, and instead of a nice jug of water or fruit juice in their fridge, they have 2 litre bottles of coke, and more lined up and waiting!
Growing up in my household, that shit only came out on birthdays and at other events such as Xmas.
A glass of cold water is 10x more refreshing and doesn't have salts in it making you need more half an hour later.
Again, the responisibility lies on the people who drink it, not on the people who sell it. Don't keep it in your fridge to drink everytime you get thirsty ffs!
Re: Thirsty? Have a Coke
I quit drinking Coke, and all sodas for that matter, a long time a go. Switched to water and fruit juices, lot better.
Re: Thirsty? Have a Coke
i am a coke addict. i probably drink 2x22oz bottles of diet coke or mtn dew a day, i need to stop...
Re: Thirsty? Have a Coke
Coke is the best... don't drink it everyday, but I'm not planning to stop.
Now, half of you on here that say you don't drink coke and soda alike... I presume you're healthy and don't smoke, do drugs or what's the deal? Otherwise, it's a tad contradicting don't you think :)

So are you saying if you decide to do one healthy thing for yourself, you have do everything healthy? Seriously you got to start somewhere and why not with soda, that doesn't give you nearly as much in return as drugs or alcohol? ;)
