The shuttle launching as seen from the space station.

The first one is the original...the second is a slight close-up.

Look at how huge the landscape is...and we can only see it from ground level. We are so insignificant. :what

cool pictures. but seeing one of those things take off from up close (50 miles away) was even cooler :)

I've lived in Florida for 7/8 of my life, and have never gone to see a shuttle launch. Been to the space center, but never when a shuttle was going up. :what

Although I have seen them go up from here many times. The night launches are the best...it literally lights up the whole sky. :shock:

i never drove over from orlando to see any launches live. but when i lived in winter park (east orlando) i could see them goin up. very cool to witness even from that far away.

I'm sure. If it is that awesome from where I am (150 miles away), I'm sure being that much closer made a huge difference.

while the pictures are cool (and real) they're not from the space station... they're from nasa's wb-57 high altitude research aircraft from around 60,000 feet.... this is a photo from the space station:
