What happened to thanksgiving?

Now, I know that its not too often that you see thanksgiving decorations, but once halloween decorations starting getting put up around the neighborhood, it seems that some put up christmas decoarations too. Which doesnt make sense, because youd think that youd wait till at least after thanksgiving to put them up -Thanksgiving being a major holiday and all -.

It seems that some people just bypassed thanksgiving altogether this year and put up christmas decorations early in what i think may be some sort of decorations battle to counter halloween. Has this happened anywhere where the rest of you live?

this is intense... I think im gonna put up halloween decorations for christmas.

Re: What happened to thanksgiving?

Thanksgiving has already happened in Canada. Maybe the US should change their date. :)

Re: What happened to thanksgiving?

I think weve reached the limit on how many times we can change the date.

I wish we could just set it to the fourth of july.

Re: What happened to thanksgiving?

We have a party around Thanksgiving every year to kick off the holiday season. Over the last couple of years (read: since I've had my wife helping me plan it), we've steadily upped the decor, but we always just do Christmas decorations and leave it at that.

Apart from sticking an inflatable turkey on your lawn or something, what says "Thanksgiving" that doesn't also just say "fall?" By the way, if any of you out there should be considering inflating anything and sticking it on your lawn, just know that I am shaking my head and mocking you. When that became acceptable, I'll never know...
