Re: top 100 dj's

well, what do you expect. at least Diggers and Sasha finished in the top ten. I am surprized Hernan dropped as much as he did especially with that delicious cd Sequential that he released this year. also gotta remember that not everyone that votes is a fan of prog house, but maybe one day......
29. OFFER NISIM ? New Entry
:CrackUp::CrackUp::CrackUp:

Now that I've stopped pissing myself - no over all suprises really. Whilst we might bitch at the results, most of the dj's we like don't plug plug plug this poll to death.

Maybe the time has arrived for DJ Mag to actually split the poll in to genres?

That said from an Israeli point of view, 4 'artists' in the top 30 is good going. . . . but where the fuck is Moshic?

#735101Post 5 of 64

Re: top 100 dj's

BT up 9.. and for that matter even ranked? Sorry Brian but if I gave you two eggs, cracked them and placed them in the bowl you still wouldn't be able to mix them properly even if I gave you a kitchenaid... and just who the fuck are some of these people?

#735104Post 6 of 64

Re: top 100 dj's

Ya, these lists get LOLer every year. Is this crap even relevant anymore? Didn't think so.

#735106Post 7 of 64

Re: top 100 dj's

yeah, i don't even think this list matters so much anymore. but i admit this, if it was full of Hernan,Howeller, Diggers, ect. we would be cumming all over the place. but fuck it, i know who i like, and i know who has talent(mentioned in previous sentence). that's what is nice about this forum, that we have a community of people who like similar(good) music, and we can share our thoughts, love for, ect. on it with like minded people. apparently there is just not enough of us to sway the results away from the idiots who listen to shite. but again fuck it.

Re: top 100 dj's

that has been going around for a few weeks....that isn't the right list

#735136Post 9 of 64

Re: top 100 dj's

^^^^^^no, you're right. the right list is as follows: 1.John Digweed 2.Danny Howells 3.Sasha 4.Hernan Cattaneo 5.Nick Warren 6.Desyn Masiello 7.Danny Tenaglia 8.James Holden 9.James Zabiela 10. Sander Kleinenberg 11.Phil Thompson 12.Jon Lisle 13.John "Quivver" Graham 14.Jimmy Van M 15.Satoshi Tomiie 16.Sean Cusick 17.Chris Fortier 18.Anthony Pappa 19.Kasey Taylor 20.Dave Seaman 21.Lexicon Avenue

that is pretty much all that matters, of course i left a few out, and this is not a "written in stone" order(except for Mr. Digweed, always #1), but i think that is the right list.

I apologise, Chris and I just recieved a txt message from a friend who is at the Top 100 party in the UK, and that list is now the official list

Awesome to see Andy Moor moving up. I predicted Top 25, so I was pretty close :) Sad to see my buddy Matt Hardwick drop, but he never came to North America this year which clearly effected him. Surprised to see Sasha drop out of the top 5. I bet he isn't pleased about that

My thoughts:

Good to see Dan all the way up to number 5!! He's one of SF's old time DJ's and it's good to see him all the way at 5!!

However, what the hell is Desyn doing at 70

Where the hell is Luke Fair and the Plumps!?!??!

 1. JOACHIM GARAUD ? New Entry

was happy to see this one. I love listening to his podcasts every week.

But Christopher Lawrence in the top 5...eeek. This list is officially fixed by the people at djmag.

And Danny Tenaglia down 22 spots with all the touring he's done this year...that's insane.

#737903Post 24 of 64

Re: top 100 dj's

Paul Woolford is missing from that top 50 list...that guy is an amazing tech house--electro house dj and produces some of the sickest shit around.

#737964Post 31 of 64

Re: top 100 dj's

That list is such fucking bullshit and so obviously dictated by peer pressure, publicity demands and money talking.

I mean, I really think he?s a good DJ and all, but how the hell does John Acquaviva get the highest entry (to nr. 22  ). I don?t think it?s because of his DJ?ing skills, but rather because he?s one of Beatport?s head honchos and coincidentally, DJ Mag?s online store is now backed by Beatport (it?s basically Beatport with a different skin).

Oh, and James Holden down 16 to nr. 53?!?!? With all the touring, the EM?s, the Digweed appearances, a new record about to come out, the At The Controls comp...? And has anyone who?s voted ever seen him DJ? I did, 2 weeks ago, and it was one of the most mind altering experiences in my life.

Gabriel and Dresden up 9 spots? For what, pressing play on their Ableton sets?

Bullshit...

#737966Post 32 of 64

Re: top 100 dj's

oh dear, bit a of a poor show chaps.

results look extremely dodgy.

Howells should never have been that low, especially with all these unknown monkeys appearing out of nowhere.

u have to think who the hell votes.

maybe we should start up our own poll to get a better idea of the lay of the land -> http://www.mercuryserver.com/forums/showthread.php?t=33703

Re: top 100 dj's
Bullshit...
Well said!

What I dont understand is why the top djs are always trance djs. Not only because trance is so diabolical these days but also because it is such a 'im off my tits, hands in the air' etc type music. I would have thought that the top djs in this stupid poll would play house (in the strictest sense of the word) because it is so much more mainstream and versatile and you dont have to be off it to listen or go out to it..

Who knows, or even cares to be honest :NotMe:

Re: top 100 dj's

What, after a day, no trance bashing? Oh wait, it's because I didn't start this thread

As we all know the top100 DJ Mag poll has never been accurate in regards to talent so I don't understand why people are getting upset. It has always been a load of crap, and only the popular dj's are recognized. This years shows even more how stupid this poll is.

A lot of the new entries on there most haven't even heard of. Most got there due to spamming the crap out of myspace, etc. Look at Gareth Emery's entry spot. That man spammed me almost every day with bullitens about his podcasts, he releases, events, etc on myspace. He got in peoples faces so come time to vote when they couldn't think of 10 to vote for, they remembered his name, and you know what for him, it paid off.

It is definately sad that people with true talent get trampled all over every year. They need to create a more accurate polling system where not just anyone can vote. They should have a way to test someones actual knowledge of the music, industry, etc, then allow them to vote. However, until they devise something, this list will always be bollocks

#738065Post 37 of 64

Re: top 100 dj's

there are only 5 people on that list i'd pay money to see.

#738071Post 38 of 64

Re: top 100 dj's

i'm glad to see my vote for steve porter paid off. yay.

just curious, how many of the complainers even voted?

#738073Post 39 of 64

Re: top 100 dj's

It's so frustrating when we read a poll as tainted as this one because it doesn't reflect our tastes - but overall its fun to analyze and discuss polls (popular opinion). Thats why I think MS should do a poll. This community would be a great test case for what is up in the Progressive and House genres (and all others... even proper trance). Give it some thought MS, it would be a great community building tool.

Note: My one positive out of this years DJ Mag poll: Sporter finally getting the recognition he deserves.

#738080Post 40 of 64

Re: top 100 dj's

I have the misfortune to work in a nightclub that books a large number of these DJs ... pretty much the majority of them except the decent Prog DJs in fact. And one thing is obvious ... this poll must be voted for almost exclusively by face chewing, Teddy Smith wearing chavs (apologies to any non chavs who voted ... all 5 of you), because they are the only types of punters I see coming to gigs by the Eddie Halliwells and the Lisa Lashes of this world.

Therefore, we can count the chart as null and void! Except, again, for the decent prog DJs
