Btw, how do you like my thread hijack, you BMW fag?
Yea.... cool hijack comparing the 335i Twin Turbo to a bunch of Soccer-Mom-Mobiles :p
Japs > Germans

sorry kamal. :p
In Quality .... most definitely, but dude do yourself a favor and take a 335i or even the 328i for a nice drive down a curvey road. Re-define the defintion that a train moves on rails ;)

 • 100 for you Jan. I agree on the quality and guido aspect of Mercedes in opposite to BMW's but you should have at least picked the SL cabrio and not the damn SLK for wannabee millionaires and young and overqualified volunteers in Graphic Design. ;) Buying a SLK is like wanting a Porsche but ending in buying a Boxster because you can't afford more.

Mercedes SL Cabrio :LoveYou:

BTW don't diss the boxter till you driven one. It's a toned down affordable Cayenne and is INCREDIBLE to drive and fucking amazing in quality + maintenance costs.

A Cayenne is no Porsche for me as well. Just a wannabee fashion model.:p

dude are you kidding ? There's a doctor here in the local indian community who drives a Cayenne..... it looks closer to the 911 than the boxter.... and the music out of the tailpipes when the car is turned on / in motion is surreal.... I love it

Re: I think BMW

I bet he has the sound of a 911 Carrera pre-recorded and plays it through his sound system. :p

Ok, I better go to lunch now before Kamal kills me.

Sorry Kamal, Tom speaks the truth. A Cayenne is a feeble attempt at the high end SUV, you pay for the name.

Treat yourself and have a nice 911 turbo.

Re: I think BMW

Nice!

I´ve been in BMW heaven lately too...after driving a 530Xd for a few days, I went to pick up a 320d Touring automatic this morning. Then, next monday, I´ll give the 320d back to BMW and bring home a 530d Touring (again an autmatic). I keep bad-mouthing automatic cars but after I discovered they all have the option of of changing to sequential gearshift, I´ve been having a lot more fun with these babies! 8)

Re: I think BMW

i dont like the porsche suv by any means, but have you seen the specs on the cayenne turbo s? thats an suv that can go from 0-60 in 4.8/s, that is nuckin futs.

Re: I think BMW

Those 335s are nice, but $50k OTD? No thanks.

#735077Post 56 of 76

Re: I think BMW

^^ i am going to get my coupe for 34k invoice if i pick it up from munich. add about 1k for dealer fee and 2.5k for my options and it should be ~39-40k

#735159Post 57 of 76

Re: I think BMW

what any options? sport/premium/cold weather are pretty much manditory. I-drive not so much

What other costs are invovled? That does sound like a bargin, but do you need to pony up for a european vaction in the process? Then ship it back to the states?

#735164Post 58 of 76

Re: I think BMW

here is the wholesale price list that the dealer will pay and you can negotiate on that: http://jon.bimmerfest.com/bulletins/e92complete.pdf

you can generally save about 3k on the price of the car, but spend that on the vacation if you are inclined. i am going to try to get a plane ticket for ~800 hopefully, and lufthansa has had a deal the last couple of years where they will throw in a 2nd coach ticket free, you just have to pay for the taxes. so me and a friend will just split the cost of the full ticket and the 200 for the flight over.

you get to drive your car on the autobhan fully insured and legal, and drop it off at one of 15 european drop off points and it is shipped back to the states w/o any extra cost. it is part of the package deal. you just have to wait about a month for the ship to arrive.

Sorry TomTom but I have to go with Kinks on this one - the SLK looks way hotter than SL imo!

Anyways I'm not into Mercedes at all - BMW is a whole different story for me. My bf is getting this beauty in a couple of weeks:

Re: I think BMW

Here?s the baby I?ve been driving since yesterday.

To be honest, since it?s a stationwagon, I wasn?t expecting much, but dude, this is probably the most agile SW I?ve ever driven, and you?ve got to love a station wagon with rear traction, I love the way it spins around the bends.

the picture might comparison might not do it justice, trust me, the SL will fry the CLK, 27 ways from sunday in looks and performance.

My uncle has an SL500 and it is one of the meanest looking cars I've driven. I test drove a CLK soon after and it feels like a shrunk/underperforming tinier version of the car

Yeah, but it's still a station wagon.

Re: I think BMW

^^^

Sure, I mean, I´d never buy it for myself, it´s just a test-drive BMW are offering us, but it´s still the most enjoyable SW I´ve ever driven.

Re: I think BMW

A lot of women like the SLK, can't blame them as it is a nice car but on the road it looks like a toy...just does not do it for me.

If I had 144.000 Euros left (181.000 dollars) I would get this one here..

CL 63 AMG

Great style and decent look, the safety of 2 and a half tons german steel and every possible safety and comfort feature you can think of but still 525 horsepower to bring you in 4.8 seconds to 100 Kilometer speed (62 miles)

Anything from the AMG workshop can happliy sit in my garage.

http://www.caterham.co.uk/showroom/index.htm

This little beauty is my next purchase, comes as a kit car. You can use an old ford to supply the engine, shocks etc. Looking at putting a 2.0l ford pinto engine in. Power to weight ratio is ridiculous. :)

Have had the pleasure of owning a 3 series, 5 series and now an X5 3.0 sport.

What a terrific car to drive.

I used to have an S4 avant which I had upgraded with RS4 Turbo's, Intercoolers, oversized injectors, cold air flow system, the works. Fast and fast.

It was a blast. But wasn't so nice on the wallet.
