im not disgusted with us, there are 900,000,000 ppl here legally, add in the latin illegal immigrants and well. im saying that 12 ppl over the last 15 years arent a fair sample of society, look at the ppl who live there and mourn openly, showing faith, love, and compassion. then think about how many of us who find this truly disgusting and sad. blame fucking TV. like he said, they expose the most random vile things and ppl for entertainment value. just look at the recent chavez performance. they made it a sensation and as our latin american MS'ers can attest, there media just reported 'chavez calls bush devil' and only gave facts.

but fuck all that, how in the world does anyone think that gun rights should extend to an AK-47 to the point anyone who hasnt [B][U]yet[/U][/B] commited a crime can buy one. what in the galaxy could someone respond logically to the question 'what do you plan to do with this weapon?' they arent gonna go skeet shooting for sport thats for sure.

I don't understand why the US don't just enforce the most strict gun control laws? In Australia, after some fuckwit took down 35 people in Port Arthur, gun laws straight away were tightened up 10 fold. Australian government is shit, but even the worst of em can still make right decisions. Why aren't the US doing this?

I think the problems run deeper than that.

For example, if I want to watch an American movie, I have a hard time trying to find one which doesn't include guns. This occurence is far less than for movies coming out of all other countries.

Guns are now ingrained a far way into American culture, and it'll be a long way out of the hole the country has now dug itself in to.

As someone said earlier, after a massacre we had in Australia about 10 years ago, gun lawa were clamped down majorly. The government held a gun buyback scheme, and guns are now only permitted by farmers and those who need them (I don't know the exact criteria).

The farmers and sports gunmen were furious (and still are), as a lot of the models they rely on have been completely banned. But look, we're still winning gold medals in Olympic shooting, and I don't think there's been any drop in our farming output as a result.

Sure, the number of illegal firearms out there have jumped, but problems have plummeted.

America needs a major shock to it's gun culture if they want this problem to disappear.
