As I'm going to the states from oct 9 till 13 oct, I was planning to buy some sw (cause of the euro / dollar course). Yesterday, I mailed to a Guitar Center in Chandler, AZ, to ask if they had logic pro in store. The replied: "Having informed us that you would be taking this out of the country, we will be unable to sell you this product"

Man just go in there and buy the thing idiots in Guitar Center are a dime a dozen pretty sure you won't run into that same guy again Had no idea music software was on the terror watch list maybe you should put it in a quart size ziplock bag when you head back home. ;)

:lol: they don't know what they're talking about. stuff like that is only export controlled if it gives a business a competitive advantage, or if there's an embargo. I can't see any problem with it.
just don't tell them you're from out of country when you buy it

I asked some more info, and they replied: "Due to our agreement with manufacturers, they have asked us to not sell their products outside the U.S"
Seems like it's an Apple decision, not a US law or something. So I'll try to speak with my best american english, and hope they sell me the thing. Once paid, and outside the shop, I'm done ;)

^^ yeah, I'm thinking of going to an apple center, which is at 2 miles from my hotel, and tell them they are the greatest and I want to buy logic :D

Now i'm no lawyer and i know f*ck all about the usa. . . . but surely this stores only responsibility is not to directly export the product in question. Whether the buyer uses the product in the usa or anywhere else is not their concern, as they have kept to their agreement with the manufacurers by not exporting it directly.

I'll take the box, go to the desk, pay it and once the payment has been done, I'll shout to the seller: "waaahaaa, you dimwad, I'll take this box to europe" ... and run away ;)
Nah, j/k, but if I'm reading most comments here, it shouldn't be much of an issue to buy (as long as they have it on the shelf, so I don't have the order it and give my details). Btw, agreement .... what agreement?

I have been able to buy the thing from the Apple store in the Chandler Fashion Mall. I'm already back in Belgium now, so they can't take it away from me anmore :)
