Went to see a comedy show Saturday night, and came out to find that someone had gotten into my Jeep and stolen my iPod, my Sirius radio, and all of the accessories. I drive a Wrangler, so it's pretty much open no matter what you do (since you can zip the sides right off), but the Sirius was in my locked glove box (which they just broke) and the iPod was in my locked center console, which they somehow got out without unlocking or breaking it.

What a kick in the 'nads, seriously. :evil: What's worse is that any time I accelerate, the glove box swings open, serving as a constant reminder of what happened. Royal pisser, to say the least.

Question, though. When I go out and buy a new iPod today, what is going to happen when I hook it up to iTunes? Will I be able to load the stuff I currently have in iTunes onto the new iPod, or is it one of those deals where iTunes will only recognize my iPod, and if I want to load music onto another iPod, it won't let me?

Probably looking for a new vehicle, too. I've been tinkering with the idea for a while, but this is enough to ratchet up my interest in getting something else -- and something a bit more secure...

yes you will. i had a scare this weekend as well. i was uber stoked about the new itunes and the vid release. i went crazy and bought all the new vids. i was looking for the iPod for two days, and finally found it. it was hidden by my two year old.

bummer bro. i could not sleep for two days. bright side, you get the 80 gig vers now.

itunes will recognize any ipod you connect. you may have to configure it to automatically xfer all ur stuff from itunes... or you can just drag what you want manually.

little known fact.

if you registered the IPOD with apple, you can claim it stolen, and if the fuckwad who stole connects to i tunes via the web.... you might have a shot.

Sorry man, I know your pain. I had my car robbed near Columbia U when I was there for my brother's graduation this past spring, I lost:

• iRiver H10 5gb mp3
• Valentine One radar (top of the line)
• Verizon Treo 700w (brand new)
• subwoofer (tired to get my amp and headunit but couldn't)
• various other personal belongs- eyeglasses, check books, bills - had to put fraud protection on all my accounts

Thankfully my homewoner's insurance covered a lot of it, but not everything.

Being robbed sucks, but at the time I was going through some other, much more serious issues with my GF so I was able to keep this in perspective:

it is just stuff and stuff can be replaced

Basically there are two types of problems you can have- those that can be fixed with a little money and those that cannot. You're always better off with the former than the latter.

iTunes will transfer as long as the mp3s are still on your hdd, and you haven't moved them to a different location or renamed them.

Mate I feel for you. I honestly don't know how I'd react if my iPod was stolen. I have spent a year now compiling all my tunes onto it, it really is my best friend. Got 30GB of stuff on there now, have just found out how to put photos on there, it's quality.

Like people are saying, get the 80GB and be the main man......
