I have spent the last two weeks in the U.S.A. I had an epic time with four great shows. I spent a couple of days in Tahoe, went to Austin Texas, a festival in Chicago, the Global festival at the Palms hotel in Vegas where I also had some time off.

Every night I went out with the promoter of the city I was in and most of them where bringing up the DJ Magazine top 100 voting. It's a big thing for most of the promoters and most of them will book DJ's that are high on this list.

That made me think, because if that's the case the voting is important. Especially to breed new talent.

There are so many new great young DJ's out there that I feel it's time to give them a chance. I appreciate all the love and support I get from all over the world but I won this award three times so if I would win it a fourth time, it wouldn't make a difference for my career.

For the new talented DJ's around the world it could make a difference, so I would like to ask all the people who support me to vote for new talent.

Don't vote for me, vote for the new breed! I just voted myself and my personal top 5 is:

1.Eddie Halliwell 2.Sander van Doorn 3.Serge Devant 4.Blake Jarrell 5.Richard Durand

Thanks again to everybody who came to my shows and who bought the new single 'dance4life'!

Love, Tiësto
The pic at the bottom says it all

Maybe he should attend non trance events and learn more about music. Don't get me wrong i like trance but give me a break. He says There are so many new great young DJ's out there that I feel it's time to give them a chance.

excaltly try it sometime.

i thought i read somewhere that someone thought he was doing this to preempt a huge drop in his ranking.

Re: Why Ti?sto Doesn't Want You To Vote For Him in DJMAG.com Top 100

no matter what you think of him or trance - advocating for 'the newbreeed' of DJ's is a pretty good concept, whether its the newbreed of techno DJ's or tech-house DJs. IMO.

Re: Why Ti?sto Doesn't Want You To Vote For Him in DJMAG.com Top 100

Dropping one person from the list (being Tiesto) isn't going to invoke an array of "newbreed" DJs. It's merely a sign of arrogance. He's totally lost the plot.

The only way his theory would slightly work is if the entire top 5 or top 10 was in backlash against DJMag top 100. Which, would therefore become useless because promoters and readers wouldn't consider it valid. So infact, it wouldn't work at all.

Come how it isn't a problem for DJs like Sasha (just to name one) to find new talent? (Zabiela for example) and make them rise to stardom. He is an arrogant fool, and if he used his resources correctly could bring up fresh DJs to become successful, for DJs he believes deserves it.

Tiesto.... what a joke.

Re: Why Ti?sto Doesn't Want You To Vote For Him in DJMAG.com Top 100

If he's so interested in developing new talent why doesn't do what at least jokenfold did and bring along people like Catteneo to open up for him There's one way to breed new talent he obviously has the ears of the mostly go with the moment promoters that pay for him to play. Eddie Halliwall(sp?) fookin knob

Re: Why Ti?sto Doesn't Want You To Vote For Him in DJMAG.com Top 100

Not trying to bag out Tiesto here at all, but the last time I looked at the Top 100 DJ poll you vote for who you think the best DJs are out there in electronic music. Not for up and coming DJs you want to give a leg up to.

As a result, the likes of Digweed, Lisle, Fortier and Cusick receieved my votes.

gotta be fake. Being in the top 5 means more money and huge gigs. He is all about $$$$$. I hardly could see him letting someone else jump in.

just like michelle wie's promoters tell her what to do (different topic in sports), so do his. its marketing. he can't possibly get this out to everyone that votes... not nearly everyone. he will get #1 again, i assure you.

Re: Why Ti?sto Doesn't Want You To Vote For Him in DJMAG.com Top 100

I think it was a great thing what he did by writing this article (and for those that think it's fake, its not, its on the front page of his website (or was when the article first came out). I think by him naming out guys with more talent then him and the current top 5-10 is awesome. Eddie Halliwell and others definately deserve more recognition.

Have you even heard Tiesto play lately??

He plays a variety of tracks from house, trance, and breaks. He is playing stuff from Robbie Rivera, Booka Shade, Sean Tyas, Leama & Moor, just to name some off the top of my head.

I also know for a fact that when Tiesto is in a town like Toronto he does go out and check out other parties to see what is going on. I have seen him out at clubs that are particularly known in Toronto for House music.

Before you criticize the guy for not learning more about music, and blabbing on, research it a little.

vote for the people that need exposure.... my #1 went to chloe 8) (she is actually one of my fav's now as well, not just cause she could use the exposure)

Doesn't Digweed say the same thing on his show about promoting new talent by voting for them?

Dance4life is possibly the worst electronic music ive heard all year. Absolutely dire. For that reason alone, he doesnt deserve to be number 1.

I think there's a difference by telling listeners to vote for certain DJs to saying Don't vote for me because blah blah blah, vote for other DJs.

Digweed is telling them to vote because even though DJMag Top 100 is a crock of shit, it DOES get DJs gigs.

I don't see Tiesto's comments are being genuine at all.

Re: Why Ti?sto Doesn't Want You To Vote For Him in DJMAG.com Top 100

i think everyone vote's for the djs that ment something for them this year, no matter if they were in the top 10 for the last years or not, i believe this is not a rookie's competition so it's kinda arogant to say dont vote for me, why do you even take part of this voting contest if you dont wanna win? i propose the votes that tiesto received not to count at the final rankings, because he doesnt want to win anyways

Maybe Tiesto knows that he will soon drop and put this out ahead of time so it appears that his fans didn't vote for him since he told them so.

its like playing in a sport you know you are going to lose so you make an excuse that your sick or your leg is hurt so when you lose, people think it was because of something else.

still good for the other DJs though
