i've really been getting into his music in the past few months. talk about a guy who is/was ahead of his time...loops and crazy rhythmic stuff from 60s-70s. i just got You Are (variations) and am enjoying it very much. if you haven't heard him, you really ought to check him out, i'd imagine most electronic music fans could get into his stuff,

Re: anyone else like Steve Reich?
hmm...never heard of him...ill check it out, thanks
Re: anyone else like Steve Reich?
look for different trains...its a composition w/the kronos string quartet plus samples from different train conductors and train whistles and its all about the holocaust. seriously chilling music
Re: anyone else like Steve Reich?
hmmm, sounds interesting... gonna sniff around for it. thx for the tip, nipples ;)
-edit- gave different trains europe - during the war a listen and nah, not really doing it for me tbh. to be sure I also took pulses (music for 18 musicians) for a spin, but that wasn't any better.
maybe good stuff for when you're hitting up a spliff or for those who like experimental compositions.
btw tiddles, if you're into that kind of music, you might like DAAU (Die Anarchistische Abendunterhaltung) as well. DAAU are four classical musicians who blend folk, jazz, classic, the Beatles, Zappa and what not using clarinet, accordion, violin and cello. Pretty amazing compositions imo.
