MercurySessions Comes To An End On August 24

FAO MS Members:

It is with great regret, after over 20 months of being in service, MercurySessions is about to close its doors. Escalating costs, changes in streaming preferences, scheduling, and few other miscellaneous factors are primarily to blame for the reason of this event.

While the radio will go down, we are in the process of setting up an alternative solution for our members. The wheels of prepration and execution are already in progress so it's a matter of time until this goes online. Moreover, a higher chance of sucess of this new endevour is assured thanks to lower execution and maintenance costs in addition to minimized team supervision to ensure uptime and availability.

While we do feel a great sense of loss with the radio service closing its doors, we look forward to the future with a sense of optimism and hope that one day in time, we will be able to bring back our streaming services.

We thank you all for your support so far and hope you will give the upcoming service (details to be advised in due course), just as much as a chance as you have with the radio service.

Thanks again

MS+ Team.

Re: MercurySessions Comes To An End On August 24

A sad day, indeed... If there is anything an ordinary MSers can do to help out (other than listen to the new service, which I will), let me know. Thanks to all for all of the hard work you put into this...that radio helped me through many days at the office.

Re: MercurySessions Comes To An End On August 24

Curious to see what it evolves into with the new project. Thanks for giving us a chance to showcase some talent around here the past year on MS...we really appreciate the opportunity. Glad we at least got a full year out of it.

[/CENTER] This is really depressing news. A big thanks to all those who have invested time, money and effort into MercurySessions. During the past months it made me discover heaps of talent festering in this black 'n' orange cesspool. Much appreciated!

Looking forward to the new project though. If the team needs a helping hand, pm me. Remember, the more you keep me busy, the less time I have left to post redundant bullshit nobody really cares about (unless there are tits in it that is) ;)

With so many radio stations on the internet and with more and more popping up every day, it’s extremely hard for any one of them to stand out.

From the day it began, I’ve always been a huge fan of Mercury Sessions and its great success is a direct reflection of the excellent music program they have shared with all of us, coupled with consitant quality audio streaming.

It’s a great honor to have been asked to put a set together for Mercury Sessions final show airing on Thursday, August 24th at 4pm est.

I hope you all enjoy the show and welcome me as I wish Mercury Sessions the best of luck as they move towards there next venture in pushing electronic dance music throughout the world.

  • Jason Jollins

Jason Jollins Biography:

Being considered among New York City's top house dj's is no easy feat, and Jason Jollins has accomplished this by consistently delivering high quality sets with each given opportunity.

Jason Jollins started DJ'ing during the late 80's. Initially spinning freestyle and house music, he continued to cultivate his DJ skills through the early nineties, embracing his love and talent for the art. Best known for highly technical and well programmed sets, Jason's sound can be best described as a dark and danceable progressive house fusion of techy, electro, tribal, melodic, sexy, bass-line driven & vocal dubbed elements.

While music has always been a passionate hobby of Jason’s since an early age, in the mid 1990’s, the demand for Jason’s live sets transformed this hobby into something much greater. Since then, he has had the privilege of playing alongside world renowned DJs such as Sasha, Carl Cox, Paul Van Dyk, Steve Lawler, Lee Burridge, Chris Fortier, Hybrid, Juan Atkins, Armin Van Buuren, Marcus Schulz, Hernan Cattaneo, Above & Beyond, Seb Fontaine, Nu Nrg, Oscar G, Anthony Pappa, Darren Emerson, Ferry Corsten, Max Graham, and many others.

Aside from holding down a Godskitchen residency and his performances overseas, Jason has continuously held high profile residencies at NYC’s top venues such as Avalon (NYC), Centro-Fly, Filter 14, the Roxy, Webster Hall, Spirit (formerly Twilo), Crobar New York, and is currently a resident at NYC top club LOVE. These opportunities have considerably elevated Jason's status as a DJ and have given him the platform needed to form the strong following of fans that he has today.

In the late 90’s, Jason formed an event production company called “United Underground” which still lives and thrives today. United Underground currently throws one off events at top clubs in NYC and also throws a weekly Friday night party called “Unified Fridays” at club Love. Love has been called the clubber's club for its superior sound, psychedelic chill out room, cascading waterfall and a seriously dark dancefloor with a sound & lighting rig that rivals any big club. Through Jason’s Unified Friday events, he is able to give back to the scene and has built a home for local, national, and international talent to share there passion within there craft.

While appearing on many of the top internet radio stations, Jason has held a monthly radio show on Proton Radio for over 4 years being one of the first dj’s to host a live Proton Radio dj show.

Jason’s record label, Acute Recordings, is considered to be one of the top progressive house labels coming out of the United States. Launched in 2002, Acute releases have graced the charts of many of the worlds top talent including #1 charted releases on the prestigious balance record pool, #1 charted releases on edmdigital.com and beatport.com, and with releases creating buzz in several magazines and online media sources.

In 2006, Jason will continue to tour around the country and globally while releasing the quality tracks that fans have come to expect from Acute Recordings. Jason's diligent work and sacrifices have not gone unnoticed; his passion for music continues to inspire him while his profile continues to rise.

Re: MercurySessions Comes To An End On August 24

Well.. I can't even describe how shitty this sudden end feels. Especially since I have worked hard these past weeks to get an interesting guest schedule for Introversive the coming months.

Even more bitter is the fact that my Introversive august edition was scheduled this Friday, the day after the close down. Three hours of interesting material, that I can now toss down the toilet. :x

One essential question pops my mind: why haven't you mods informed us about this earlier (at least the show hosts), instead of only 3 days before the end?

Props to all show hosts bringing in the goods!

Re: MercurySessions Comes To An End On August 24

Well I never got the chance to really listen to it like so many of you have, but I do know that there are so many dj sets floating around on here that if you just set up a playlist in your winamp, it wouldn't be much different.

I hope you guys are able to find new and excition ways to keep growing. How about a weekly podcast from one dj each week?

Re: MercurySessions Comes To An End On August 24

 you get mad when people say they could get cheaper clothing that looks better, but you're talking about how the radio station wasn't needed because we could create a personal playlist instead. classic
