Re: Books that changed you...

Carlos Castaneda's works should be required reading imo. There are twelve books in all and every one of them will totally reinvent the way you look at the world, no exception.

If you saw What the Bleep Do We Know or read stuff like The Four Agreements - Don Miguel Ruiz, Conversations with God - Neale Donald Walsch or Dan Millman's Peaceful Warrior series, just to name a few, then check out Castaneda - he's the original. Without him none of these other guys would have ever put pen to paper.

#693153Post 17 of 135

Re: Books that changed you...

celestine prophecy.... wow. i read the 3 books he wrote. while using a fictional story, he wrote about some of the best ideas on living life i have ever seen. there was an underlying message throughout those books about keeping aroudn people who have positive impact on your life, treating others with compassion and so so much more.

forgot aobut those. might have to go re read.

Re: Books that changed you...

Moby Dick by Mellville Tale of Two Cities by Dickens Story of Civilization by Will Durant The Bible Elliot Wave Principle by Frost & Prechter Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad Dune by Frank Herbert Macbeth by Shakespeare Heaven & Hell by Swedenborg Great Expectations by Dickens

Reading is such a great thing. If it wasn't for music and books life would pretty much suck.

Re: Books that changed you...

This has to be one of the most interesting threads I've ever found in this board. I'll actually take sometime to post mine. Seems like some people are listing books that they liked, or perhaps really liked. But having a deep impact in ones life is something else. It would be good if people would expand a bit on how the books have changed their lives.

I'm on the design side of urban planning, still often fighting the status quo that was the source of much of Jane's ire. We were all a bit sad when she died earlier this year.
