Tkanks for this, I checked around and even though I personally have not heard of Pro Forms, apparently they're popular at the local YMCA. The one I picked up is the one from my first post in this thread.
Will be here on Saturday, keep ya'll posted

Re: Getting a Treadmill
@Kamal: since I was a manager of a fitness center I can give you a tip of a good brand AIR MACHINE - Italian. I dont know if you can buy this in your area?? and if you decide to buy one of those I would recomend you buy a pro version (costs a bit more), made for frequent use becouse this things break quite a lot (the electronics inside that is) and machines that are made for home use are just useless - trust me!! And never ever buy anything from Tunturi - quite famous brand but the equipment is shit!
heres a site - but is only in Italian language http://www.airmachine.it/it/fit/prod_scheda.php?ID=6&pos=4
;)
Re: Getting a Treadmill
Thanks for the heads up, unfortunately I live in a town which is the absolutely ass crack of the state and unfortunately none of the local stores sell that brand. I also dont have a big SUV so I have to resort to sticking with a store that will deliver it.
But thanks for providing that info :)
Re: Getting a Treadmill
Kamal, shop online. You can have one shipped to you from pretty much everywhere. Overstock.com carries a large selection (or at least they used to) and you can't beat the $2.99 shipping.
Re: Getting a Treadmill
I did look at treadmills online but I didnt want to buy one without physically looking at it / testing it out (sort of like buying a car for me). Between the two successive models (between mine and the one below mine), there is a significant / noticeable difference in build quality, sturdiness and overall presentation of how the treadmill looks and works (even with a $100 diff) and that was something I didn't find when I was hunting online.
Moreover, I needed a protection plan (esp from someone local) so I didnt have to worry about waiting on parts if the thing breaks down on me.
I bought mine from Sears, they'll bring it over and even assemble it for me AND I picked up a 3 year warranty. I did pay more for shipping ($65) but I feel I got a decent deal because Sears is discounting it $200 off the regular $799 and it was the last one in the store :)
Re: Getting a Treadmill
Don't forget to take pictures of yourself in action. ;)

Re: Getting a Treadmill
Think of it as motivation. If I stood there behind you, with my pants down, you'd be running into great shape in no time at all. But you'd have to tell your wife to stop gawking and swinging the broom at me. Those bristles hurt.
Re: Getting a Treadmill
Dude, a $700 treadmill will suck. Go to treadmilldoctor.com http://www.tmdoctor.com/pages/best_buy_awards.php, and you'll see that a treadmill that is halfway-decent costs three times as much. Decent gyms use quality treadmills, but they are often whacked-out by constant use.

funniest post of the month, IMO
Re: Getting a Treadmill
My peeps back home picked up one from Sams club. I think the company was called Health rider. I can't quite remember the model number. I ran on it a few times when I went home on leave. it seemed pretty solid to me . It had fans on it that helped out a lot, it had all the features on like other ones do like the different inclines grades, numerous preprogrammed training regiments, heart rate monitor. I think they got it for like $800. I got a good workout on it. I'm forced to run outside on concrete at least three times a week and I'd much rather run on the treadmill sometimes because it does absorb a good deal of shock. Knee and leg problems suck ass. just a suggestion
Re: Getting a Treadmill
-e got to say i love your new found comitement to health..i need to seriously start considering working out,,i eat like shit, hardly get any sleep and drink at least 3 times a week.... i am so out of shape (not necesarily fat) that i run out of breath when i run up the stairs...
as for runing outside.. its too hot to even be outdoors... at least with the treadmill you will be in an air conditioned envirorment...
make sure you and sugana get into some kinda comitment to keep each other motivated..if not it will become, like someone said earlier, a 500 dollar clothes hanger

actually its an $800 treadmill that was discounted by $200. Some special at Sears. It seemed really solid when I ran on it, the one for $499 felt like it was gonna come apart under my feet.

Yea this one has all that, power incline, 12 warranty on the motor, preprogrammed training routines, built in 3 speed fan, heart rate monitor, calorie count, carb count and a few other goodies. Good machine (at least I think it is)

yea man, at least before being married, I used to party/bounce minimum twice a month so that really gave me a good work out, but since I've been married, I eat more, party less and just overall been putting on a lot of weight.
Sugana and me are totally motivating each other to lose a lot of weight. We look at our wedding pictures and think who the heck are they

Re: Getting a Treadmill
so, did you get your treadmill?
Re: Getting a Treadmill
yea man, got it on saturday morning.... brisk walked for 40 minutes - burnt about 260 calories. Didn't do it Sunday cause I was out of town and came back late. Monday had to help Sugana around the house so missed out again. Yesterday had another 35 min go at it and set fire to about 230 calories.
Feel great today, cant wait to get back on it. I'll try to take some picts of the unit and post 'em in here.
Re: Getting a Treadmill
what speed do you go on it? I try to use the eliptical more so because i have bad knees and the treadmill makes em hurt sometimes. I did use it yesterday though and sorta liked it, i didnt even realize iw as on it for 20 mins i was busy watching tv.
Re: Getting a Treadmill
start off slow and the max I hit was 4.5 mph at a 4 incline but that was brief because I haven't exercised for a while .... for the most part, I was brisk walking at about 3.6 - 3.8 mph
Re: Getting a Treadmill
