First time since I came here that I allowed myself to get really drunk on spirit (Gin in this case, good shiz too!) and they get me. I saw my mate off at the trotro's and then went to the campus, where I live at the moment. Remember me telling it is boring on there? Well, I'll take that back, hehehe....it's a fucking jugle out here mang! Anyway, I's dark, rain is pouring down and I hear some rapmusic booming behind me. Take a look and some car stops about 50 mtres (150 ft) behind me. So I think "get smart, get off the road so any villains won't see you that easily" - even with my drunken ass. Well, too bad because they had already spotted me...in retrospect they stopped to let a guy out, who ran all the way up to me, but because of the rain and my intoxicated condition I didn't hear him until he was right behind me.
I turn in a reflex to fend off any knife, but he just steps back and points a gun at me, fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck. So he starts checking out my stuff, gets my phone which I hand ove reluctantly, and my money. Then, me and my stupid drunken ass go after him while tries to get away, because the gun was so small and I though it was a toy gun.
Wrong.
I shouted at him "prove to me it's real man, just prove it" (sounding ridiculous already?), and he turns and fires one in the air. Well, that was pretty much all I needed to know - screw you and take the phone! He runs at the car, gets in and they're off. Little did I know about the fact that about 2 hrs before 3 American students almost got robbed as well. But in that case the fucker that came at them (a different guy) wasn't carrying a weapon at all - the gun was with his friends who were waiting just a little down the road. The Guy in that group, Joel, gave his assaillant 2 kicks in the chest through the taxi window, they fired the gun when the taxi driver tried to go after them. That is 2 robbings on the same stretch of road within 3 weeks. I'm located right beside a hotspot! On campus FFS!!
One other American girl got attacked with a machete on the throat, but we're prett sure it's the same guys...so as of now everytime after dark I'll be carrying a ready knife in my hand and I'm never getting drunk again here. Next fucker who tries it receives the blade in his neck.
Yeah, my ego is damaged...I fucking hate getting caught while I'm at my weakest. Try me when I'm all there...I know you should never take chances with a gun, but the powerlessness annoys me more than I would've thought. Other than that I'm not afraid really, shit happens and you deal with it. Just glad though that I'm still here to embrace a certain beautiful, smart, spirited and gifted younf woman when I come back - that is one thing I realized ;)
