Hey all just got my bro in law denon dns3500 just before. I am gonna buy a mp3 player so i thought i wuld test this out. Anyway i have a few questions. When u try skip through a track it comes up with VBR! . What does that mean?? cause with some tracks it fast fowards but some it comes up with that and i don't know why. Also just wanted to know what u guys and gals do in terms of organising your mp3 files. How many files do u have per disk?? And how do u organise your cd's?? i mean do u have one disk with artists starting with the letter A and so on. Thanks for any help on this. And one last thing. I noticed when i got some of my tracks some have too much bass (distortion) some are too quiet and some sound alright. How would i fix this problem?? Would i just have to work the EQ's alot or do u use say soundforge to fix this problem?? Thats all for now if i come up with anything else i will post it in this thread. Thanks for any advice ;)

Re: Borrowed dns3500

VBR = variable bit rate, a method of encoding compressed files, such as mp3s, to only use higher bit rates when necessary.

I think this may cause ffwd problems with certain players, but just a guess.

As for organization, I don't have any help, I don't use cds.

If some of your songs are quiter than others, than you should either fix it like you mentioned with eqs and volume knobs on the fly, or you could normalize all your files so the are relatively the same volume. You can get software that will do this automatically on a group of files.

Re: Borrowed dns3500

I've always organized my cd's the same way I organize my vinyl which is somewhat by genre. I'll have a deep house section, progressive section. etc...

That is unless i get behind and then it's by whatever I most recently got... lol :D
