Re: What do you think about Deep Dish?

well most of the time a 1 to 2 hour set is released. which is a tiny portion of one of their normal sets. i think if more of their recordings came out that were, say around six hours we'd get a true feel for their capabilities. just heard a dance dept set a month or so ago from them i really liked. cant remember the date of it though. :what

Re: What do you think about Deep Dish?

i first noticed them when i was in college and the dorm radio station had their junk science cd. i noticed that tracey thorn was doing vocals for "future of the future", so i "borrowed" checked it out as i have always been a big ebtg/tracy & ben fan, and i thought the cd was good stuff.

i started listening to their dj sets alot when diggers started up his kiss100 shows and i happened to catch the show from the start (with deep dish as the first guest djs from what i remember), and i listened to mostly all of the kiss100 shows from about 2000-2005, so i was a pretty big fan of theirs all thru that time when they would be on here and there, plus the random livesets i could find on the net. and plus when they started their yoshitoshi / shinichi label they were putting out alot of kickass tunes there for a while.

i havent listened to their george is on cd yet, nor kept up with them lately..but i would like to hear how they sound now..just my opinion.. :)

Re: What do you think about Deep Dish?

they can easily go either way. when they go dark, they're as good as anyone. the problem is, they tend to go through parts in their sets that are very cheesy. however, the first yoshiesque cd is still one of my all time fave.

the first half of cd 1 of yoshiesque sounds absolutely perfect, its amazing how well those tracks go together. i can listen to the mix from Jark Prongo/Wave 2081 to Departure Lounge Feat. SOR/Dep Lounge 2 (Vocal Mix) every day it is so sweet...also i must say i really like the toronto gu mix, and especially the individual dubfire and sharam afterhours mixes. too bad i am not too keen on the moscow mix though.

I love the majority of their artist work and remixes, reworks, mixes, etc. They are quite the fun.

Re: What do you think about Deep Dish?

I saw Sharam few weeks ago in Ljubljana and the show was great for most of the night but at the end it got wierd - he started to play Madonna and commercial stuff like that :( but I guess it was the right way to get us all out of the club ;)

Here's a short video of that night (I dont know how to attach a file so I uploaded it)!

Re: What do you think about Deep Dish?

I will see them live on June 30 in Väth's Cocoon club in Frankfurt for the 1st time of my life. I like most of their live sets besides the fact that I can live without the big hits like Say Hello or Flashdance or other mainstream releases they play in different versions two or three times during every gig on a tour till your ears bleed. But from what I heard, they know how to make people dance and this counts in the end so I look forward to it.

lets hope you get a pre prepared set @ the gig, those seem to be the ones you cant stop listening to ( i.e. the one from radio 1 @ new year ), they just lack consistancy thats the only problem i have with them, even for a kind of main streem act they can play a surprisingly underground set from time to time, an act worth keeping an eye on because that 1 in 10 is always class

Re: What do you think about Deep Dish?

I just dont like what they play anymore. The interest level with Deep Dish went from 10 to -5. They're not the same as from back in the heyday. But I guess that all the producers, remixers, labels and music evolving... i guess

Re: What do you think about Deep Dish?

If you saw them a few years back they where on fire. They used to play loads of different styles of music. I saw them on Saturday @ Air in Birmingham. They where OK but nothing special. If you listen to the Deep Dish @ Club XIII Moscow 1.6.2001 6 hour set, its mind blowing. If anyone doesn't have it let me Know and i will post it in the promos section

Re: What do you think about Deep Dish?

i've seen 3 of their 8 hour sets and i think they are pretty good live. they can make for a really fun night if you can look past some of the more commercial and cheesy tracks.

Re: What do you think about Deep Dish?

i saw deep dish in toronto in may. they played from 2-9am? ( not sure i left at 7) but from what i stayed for i was dissapointed. the mixes that i heard were pretty bangin so i went to that show expecting a lot. their mixing was great its just the track selection that killed it:| . wasnt even close in terms of quality to their live at bedrock mix broadcast on kiss in 2000.

btw, chunky can you post the moscow set? heard that one is great...

Re: What do you think about Deep Dish?

JK224, how can you even think that they'd play anything similar or even in the same catagory as a recorded mix from 2000? That's just ignorant. And Say Hello rules.

Re: What do you think about Deep Dish?

right now Sharam is scheduled in Hartford late August for an outdoor party which'll go until 4am...so he should get a good 3-4 hour set easy which will make a nice difference...

I've seen them together, I've seen them separate, but I do believe the venue and set length makes a difference in what they play.

Whats wrong with having high expectations for a dj(s) that youve heard some good sets from in the past? ive seen Nick Warren and Jimmy Van M together recently and unlike Deep Dish they definetly fulfilled my expectations of playing a great show...

I dont have this and I would very much like to hear this! I saw them right around that time in 2001 and they were tearing it apart. 8)
Whats wrong with having high expectations for a dj(s) that youve heard some good sets from in the past?
There's nothing wrong with that at all. If you go back to your original statement, followed by my reply, that wasn't what you were insinuating. I'm merely stating that you can't depend on a DJ to sound like what he/they did years ago. Having high expectations isn't necessarily a good thing either, can give you a big letdown. Much like when you see this hot chick and she's only got a five inch penis under her skirt. Big letdown. ;)

Re: What do you think about Deep Dish?

They bore me these days but I still have respect for what they've done. Somebody recommend a recent set that they thought was really good and I'll check it out. I've been ignoring anything from them for the past 2 years. Change my mind.
