Re: track i am working on

the beginning is sweet, i love the sounds, then the bass drum kicks in and it's OK, could use a bit more ommph, but that snare is the bad part of the track, it really sounds kinds thin and boring, you should try layering sounds together, like two to four bass drums along with two or more snares, it really helps the sound to become more full. Go get yourself a Computer Music Magazine or Future Music, as they will help your productions quite a bit.

It's a nice early groove song, kinda like something you'd like to hear early in the morning. I love the synth line in it too. Nice melody, it's good not to make your melody so complex that people can't remember it.

All in all, I give it a thumbs up.

Re: track i am working on

thanks jeff

glad you liked it :D

yea, the kick was just a simple 909 from a sampler ... and same with the snare. so i didnt put much work into that... but that can always be changed.... thanks for the input :):)

Re: track i am working on

Jeff hit it on the head, so I really have nothing to add... just wondering what you put it together in?

Re: track i am working on

damn wish I had logic pro 7. I'm using ableton for my stuff right now. Perhaps one day I'll get logic for all those bad ass pulg-ins they have.

Re: track i am working on

hey, I listened to it too. I liked it. Some things I thought you could tweak a little bit, though. The main synth (the higher pitched one that sounded most like a flute) was a little bit boring, sonically. What I mean is, the sound of the instrument itself was kind of drab, and made the song sound 'thin' to me. Overall it sounded a bit to 'thin' if that even makes sense. I just felt there was a lot of range of sound you could have used up...

btw just my opinion I'm no expert! Keep up the good work, though, and write some more songs and post them here.

Re: track i am working on

now he didn't like that sound while I thought it was an interesting sound. just shows you that we all can't like the same stuff, and thank God for that one. Cause life would be really boring if we did.

I learned something about listening to others...mostly this applies to artwork, but it could clearly apply to what you are going through.

Julian Schnabel (painter) once said, "Never listen to anyone when it comes to being responsible for your own work" Now it's nice to get feedback from people. But taking the feedback from 20 people and then changing your attitudes on the song doesn't say much for your opinion of your work. Frankly I liked it and wish you had just kept it the way it was.

Unfortunately sometimes you do listen to others about your work, and then you change the song...then down the road you wish you had kept it the way it originally was...then you end up kicking yourself in the ass. Don't do that. If you feel it might be lacking. Finish up the song anyway...then do your own remix of the track. Look at PVD, that guy does around three remixes for every song he has ever put out.

Just remember this...those 20 people might not have liked it...but 20,000 more might just have really loved it that way.

Re: track i am working on

Pretty damn fun early type track Only non positive comments somehow build up to that nice guitar sound without the momentum dropping out and add a little more kick and snare for mixing out with, cause that middle eastern sound with the guitar would sound great flowing into another track. Otherwise, lovin the sounds, dirty grity and very mixable.
Carry on

Re: track i am working on

Checking :-)

Like what I hear..starts nice and calm..brilliant atmosphere. kick suits to the track..very nice. like the low and deep bass in addition to the rather minimal percussion.

3.20 mins now, nice sounds coming it. reminds me of something, but cant remember what.

great production, personally i think it's more of a "lounge" track :)

Carry on[/quote] yes i do need to bring that sound in a bit better. i will work on that, and teh outro sounds like a good idea too, thanks :p

oh and matt, it was my goal to make a "lounge type" track. i was listening to alot of warmup mixes when i made this... namely chloe's warm up for diggers mix 8)

Re: track i am working on

Chloe's sound has a great feel like Q6's old mixes just sets the stage perfectly
