MASTER THE FUCKING TUNES BEFORE YOU UPLOAD> \beatport doesnt. and in particular if anyone round here knows them.

LIMBO records, just posted cool tunage, but nothing is mastered and it sounds like the stock soundsystem from a 85 nova. and its on my 5.1 comp system from Harmon kardon.... and if they cant do you justice,, no one can.

Re: FYI Beatport sellers....

i totally agree with you about the mastering aspect of sound. I think sometimes people think they do it for you.

if you've got a song on beatport, you should be more behind it to master the damn thing, you want people to wanna buy more of your tracks and when not mastered, you don't really wanna go back and check them out again.

Re: FYI Beatport sellers....

Not mastering is kind of shitty.

Thats like me doing large format print work at 72dpi.

Re: FYI Beatport sellers....

Beatport have really gone downhill since the beginning of the year. Hopefully with Beatport v3 round the corner they will have sorted things out. But at present there site and sound quality on some of there mp3's is a joke.

Re: FYI Beatport sellers....

Re: FYI Beatport sellers....

Yep, I´ve had a couple of duffers too...

When I buy stuff from them now, I usually look at the files in SoundForge before playing them, applying some limiting or levelling the volume in Live.

Re: FYI Beatport sellers....

You shouldn't have to though, thats the thing. I have'nt bought anything from them since feb. I only ever log on to add tracks and then delete them once i've found them on stompy or juno. All beatport ever did was blame Flash for poor d/l and loading speeds. It's only recently in the past month or two that they have held there hands up and said there servers cant handle the amount of hits there getting. It's pretty pathetic the amount of b.s they've come out with

A-fucking-men. When did people lose track of the fact that it's all just variations of either house or techno?

Re: FYI Beatport sellers....

name drop time.... on part 2. (it was mastered, but he just tried to hard)

t_m s_____r. great DJ, good producer, but the two songs i ran across yesterday were just ................. lacking energy. and G__g W____n, you make sick tracks, but no groove. and no, just because there is a bassline, doesnt mean it has a groove. fill in blanks.

#652957Post 15 of 22

Re: FYI Beatport sellers....

i know the first name and i think i've got a line on the second one.

not everyone can make banging tracks everytime.

#653007Post 16 of 22

Re: FYI Beatport sellers....

So your upset that the tracks being made are shitty? or that the actually mp3 quality and or wav quality is shitty.... or both?

Ive had pretty decent luck when buying mp3's on beatport, but this past month, I grabbed some where the gain on my mixer was almost maxed out just to be loud enough to compete with the other track.

There are only 27 people working for beatport and only 1 of them actually works with costumer service issues/complaints! WTF!!

#653008Post 17 of 22

Re: FYI Beatport sellers....

i have no issue with beatport, they have been tops. its the dumb producers that cant seem to master thier work. its like they dont even listen to thier own tracks outside of thier software.

#653012Post 18 of 22

Re: FYI Beatport sellers....

yeah I don't think some of them have even read a book about production and mastering. If they did they probably skip over the mastering part, thinking that it's really just the mixdown...it's not.

#656015Post 19 of 22

Re: FYI Beatport sellers....

Why would anyone think that Beatport would master the tracks for you? What kind of retarded thinking is that? :roflmao:

#656147Post 20 of 22

Re: FYI Beatport sellers....

maybe he means normalizing?

#656254Post 21 of 22

Re: FYI Beatport sellers....

Mastering is the producer or label?s responsability, but Beatport should enforce some kind of quality control over what it sells.

But we can?t blame Beatport for the stupid "loudness war" going on in music nowadays...I?ve seen some tracks compressed, maximized and brickwall-limited to the point of it?s waveform appearing like a solid rectangle. No dynamics whatsoever...this has been going on in pop/rock for quite some time, but I?m seeing it in dance music too.

All in all, that?s why I do some "mastering" and normalizing on my sets.

#656293Post 22 of 22

Re: FYI Beatport sellers....

yeah i hate tracks like that. you need softer parts and louder parts in a song, it is called dynamics and it's how you create emotion in a song...or one of the ways.
