Ok so i noticed a trend in a few clubs down in mexico... when it comes time to hand off the decks to the next dj in rotation they often use a song that changes beat at the end or pics up tempo unexpectadly.... fun and games or just trying to make the next guy look bad ? and if they do it to me should i do it to them

#647934Post 2 of 37

Re: Last song

wait for end of the track or turn off the deck ;)

#647936Post 3 of 37

Re: Last song

some stupid djs in mexico by the looks of it. just stop the track if you suspect mate and drop a monster intro or anthem... :D

Re: Last song

Yeah i know what you mean, i find it laughable when someone makes a habit of pointing out that they think they're better than someone else. Those types never make it to far fortunately. Talk is cheap etc etc :D All the best mate. 8)

Re: Last song

you guys are right on. don't stoop to their level. they're just afraid that some is better than them. and you probably are.

peace

Re: Last song

you should come out with sasha's mash up of dark and long and that crazy french track with all the effects. that will teach em.

Re: Last song

nah guy gerbers remix of Santiago from Digweed.... and it was the end of that one ....

Re: Last song

i always let the person's last track run out regardless if the song is fucked up or not. i always like to start fresh from the beginning and build on it anyhow.

#651589Post 12 of 37

Re: Last song

most DJ's tend to "start over" as it also lets the crowd know that, OK, they're now on the decks...other alternative if you had it was to use a microphone to introduce them...but be careful who you let use the mic

There are some though, and if you like the last few tracks playing, it's easy to work off of that, then take it in the direction/build you want to.

beyond that, I'd let it run out too, or if gets too crazy/they think they're hot shit for dropping that track, a little backspin always fixes things nicely :D

Re: Last song

im of the school that is disrespectfull to let the track run out or to stop it... again they are being disrespectfull.. we live in the age of the loop, loop it and onward, then when your first song breaks, you can stop it and get your attention

I was taught the same thing as well....that is was rude to let their track run out or to stop it...usually i'll just mix my track right in, or sometimes i'll use a sound effect-a-pella (i made that word up) to bring in as their song fades out...but never stop their song...its like shuttin their party off and you being snobby and taking over.

Drop some death core IMO ;)

stop the music playing and drop heaven scent

Re: Last song

Always have a record ready that starts ambient with no beat so if some bullshit like that happens you are ready.

Re: Last song

i often end my sets with stuff other dj's can both easily mix into and give them leverage to bring things up or drive it deeper, and leave people asking what my last track was. Only afew i've found so far satisfy this

Accorsi & Bassetti - Until The End G-Pal : Warning Luke Chable: Eat static Lithium - Ride a Rocket

I pine for the older days of music that sounded like they had been crafted after years of work.

#773455Post 19 of 37

Re: Last song

I've seen some dj's around here do things like that...it's like they try to 1up the headlining dj...and that definitely doesn't help you to get known and loved by the headliners of the world.

excellent example of an ending track!

From my clubbing experience I've noticed that if the last guy has done a great job it's always good to let his last number roll off so that the crowd can pay him respect - you know, a little clapping, some "bravos" etc. at least that's how we great those that have rocked us back home in Bulgaria.

#788930Post 21 of 37

Re: Last song

and.... if the DJ you're opening for is an ass.... you can leave them with terrible ending tracks. I have about 3 in my arsenal of "bad leaves".

Re: Last song

or running 7 copies of Spastik at the same time over Binary Finary!

#788935Post 23 of 37

Re: Last song

That works too. It was only 3 copies and I hate you with every fiber of my being Caley. ;)

The sun rises and sets with DJ Tiesticle.

He is my all... my reason for living. Without him I might wither and die.

Re: Last song

Tiesto versus Bodzin IMO.

#789022Post 31 of 37

Re: Last song

Tiesto could hurl slices of Velveeta at Stephan and Stephan would attack with squelchy farting bass frequencies...... it's a toss up.

tossed salad FTW

#789047Post 33 of 37

Bodzin would toss Tiesto's salad like no one's business! He would use grape jelly too imo.
