Re: jon lisle guest mix 5-27-06
It is good this mix. Some quality tunes on there from jonathan. Digweed set is also good i promise ;). When is this gonna be in download section by the way. i recorded it but it does not sound as good as ms quality.
Re: jon lisle guest mix 5-27-06
Hopefully soon.
Re: jon lisle guest mix 5-27-06
So did anyone listen to this yet?
Re: jon lisle guest mix 5-27-06
Listening to it now, will post my thoughts up in an hours time :)
Re: jon lisle guest mix 5-27-06
Starts off really nice and twisted ... after the half-hour mark, it kinda droned on a bit.
Re: jon lisle guest mix 5-27-06
I gotta say lately I've found almost all branches of dance music to be so predictable it's not funny. Progressive, and all other types of house included. Even breaks. It's all the same.
The build-ups, the break-downs, I know exactly when they're coming and exactly what they're going to sound like. There seems to be a mould for each sub genre that all the producers have been using. Hell, I even found James Holden's new cd to be mostly predictable rubbish (surely I'll be flamed hard for that).
This mix however, was original and there wasn't a predictable moment to it for the entire hour. I had it on in the background while I browsed the net, and it kept throwing me off that each song didn't move in the direction I had in mind. The whole set was like this.
I'm gonna be giving this more than a few listens. It's not a banging set (although I'd be interested to hear something banging in a style like this). I thought Lisle had slightly lost it after he moved away from the dark, moody breaks found on the Argentina and 2004 Kiss mix. But this man has clearly been doing his homework. Excellent work Mr Lisle. I can't wait to hear the album!
PS: The track at the 27 minute part is so awesome it's not funny.
Re: jon lisle guest mix 5-27-06
Just about to start listening.
Maybe Jon can provide the mix (like he normally does) without all the interruptions etc.
Re: jon lisle guest mix 5-27-06
today morning @ 5:20 in a streetcar near cologne, germany mr. Herre was dancing because he was listening to lisles new shit. other people in the streetcar looked carzy/weird to him and were afraid because nobody knew what he was doing but he was happy.
i really enjoyed lisles mix. gabors track in the middle is just mmmyummy and im still diggin his set from 2005 (best one from last year :P i think, yes with habershams and chabs and KUs and............................................).
thanks mr lisle herre :D
Re: jon lisle guest mix 5-27-06
Lisle's mix was just frigging great and I liked it a lot. It should have go on for another hour in the style of the last track he played though. 8)

[/QUOTE] I thought that was normal behavior in Germany. :?:
Re: jon lisle guest mix 5-27-06
i know my reply is out of time, but i liked mojos kiss100 a lot, he was not predictable imo, talking about what you said being a predictable music, it depends on whos creating the set... the track fot itself dont do much, you have to give it a meaning imo.

Re: jon lisle guest mix 5-27-06
I'm glad to hear Lisle experimenting once again. I've been missing his trippy dark brakes and haven't enjoyed that much his techy side (except for his Live in Poland mixes), but this mix is pretty interesting.
Re: jon lisle guest mix 5-27-06
Not on par with his recent 'The Art of Modern Mixing' CD, that'll take some beating.
Still a fine mix as always.

Is that the name of the new cd he has coming out shortly? I'm still a bit out of the loop about it all. When's the release date? Surprised Digweed didn't pimp Lisle's new album during the announcements.
Re: jon lisle guest mix 5-27-06
Just finish listening to this, very good mix happy that Lisle is playing twisted music again.

All tracks featured on this will be on the 2CD titled 'Propaganda' as mentioned.
Free with DJ Mag you'll probably now find it listed in P&R or his website.
Around July I think.
Re: jon lisle guest mix 5-27-06
Ah ok didn't know it was the DJ mag mix. Haven't heard it yet though since the mag is pretty hard to come by in Sydney.

Good Times.... :)
I hate mixes getting cut off... it's like leaving during the middle of a set that's fucking rockin it... don't make no sense.
Re: jon lisle guest mix 5-27-06
Jonathan L played a blinder last year when he opened for Diggers at Bedrock (Air) ... so I'm looking forward to hearing the full set.
