We had a pretty harrowing experience at Canal Room last summer... My friend got thrown out for being a little too drunk, which was fine, but instead of just throwing him out, the bouncer took him out to the curb and proceeded to pummel him, breaking his jaw in three places, and breaking his nose. Suffice to say, my friend ended up needed surgery, but also sued the club, pressed charges (turned out the bouncer was an ex-con for assault), got the bouncer arrested, and got some retribution.

Be careful out there people. I keep my truly wasted times for private house parties nowadays.

I live near a city that has a majority of minorities (as a whole vs. "white" people)...a lot of which are lower-income.

I occassionally check the arrest logs. Guess who commits the majority of crimes? I'm even talking stuff that would be misdemeanors. Yep.

This was happening over the past oh 10 years, even when the white people were still the majority.

thats crazy. i've been to opus 22 twice now. both times it was very laid back and the crowd was nicely dressed and drinking cocktails. i could never imagine much trouble going on in there. do they ever have any hip hop nights or anything that might require a killer bouncer?
