Re:: The DJmag top 100 DJs - Tiesto must be stopped!
Read this great news from xpander.
TIESTO MAKES OLYMPIC DJ HISTORY IN ATHENS!
DJ's have never been big at the Olympic Games, but now amazingly Tiesto, the most popular DJ on earth, is going to spin at one! Around four billion people will be observing as the 28th Olympiad opens in Greece, the place from where the Olympics originated. No stranger to stadiums himself, DJ giant Tiesto will be performing at the magnificent Opening Ceremony on Friday 13th August as the first DJ ever to perform at the Olympic Games!
It was back in October last year when Tiesto was first approached by the Athens Organising Committee for the Olympic Games (ATHOC), for a DJ performance lasting 90 minutes during the parade of the athletes, a part of the Opening Ceremony. Truly a great honour, the Greek artistic director of the openings ceremony, Dimitris Papaioannou, also confirmed on Dutch television that they were proud to have Tiesto as a part of their official opening in Athens. The president of the organising committee, Mrs. Gianna Angelopoulos-Daskalaki says:
"Our ceremonies will include unique Greek artistic elements along with modern and international perspectives. While it is path breaking, it is also natural, that a modern artist like Tiesto will contribute to the celebration we're planning on our opening night. We welcome him to Athens."
Tiesto, meanwhile, says, "I am honoured to be to be part of the biggest sports event in the world. The fact that the Games are returning to their birthplace and to the city where they were revived makes Athens 2004 very special. The opportunity to perform my music for billions of people around the globe will be the greatest highlight of my life."?(08/10/04)
^^ i'd almost say thats lame, but that is good publicity for "electronic music" period. at least he isn't the worst they could have picked, regardless if he plays shitty music or not
Re:: The DJmag top 100 DJs - Tiesto must be stopped!
This really pisses me off... furthermore how can djmag put diggers photo close to tiesto's???
Re:: The DJmag top 100 DJs - Tiesto must be stopped!
do we honestly care?
do we honestly care?
Nah, not really... just bored.
Down with Tiesto.
who cares, it's a silly popularity contest for the candy ravers to vote on their favourite trancey cheesey dj.
I bet Diggers and Sasha and the rest of the real dj's have no clue that this "vote" is even going on, lol. Nor do they really care I bet.
But, let me know who wins, so I know whose cd's I need to buy.
i will vote for sasha this year 8)
:Bingo:
tiesto will win because he is the best.

Cartman says: "You have warped my fragile little mind."
All this nonesense is a bs publicity stunt. Fact of the matter is Digweed has performed 24/7 since he was born. That is why he sells cd's and is #1 dj in my opinion. Crowd may be down cause of a lackluster opening (John Marsh anyone?) but he knows how to get you in the groove. Albeit everyone has their fuckups or bender nights, but heh is he not human. I think if you actually vote for this mess you show your inability to think outside of the box.
tiesto will win because he is the best.
yes sir!
^^^ ok, I hope you didnt take me seriously about buying the winners cd. lol
I thought the sarcasm was a bit obvious there, maybe not though
I dunno man, you sounded kinda sincere back there... You got any cheese in those hands of yours...
I dunno man, you sounded kinda sincere back there... You got any cheese in those hands of yours...
hahaha, not today sir.. but I am wearing my "I :LoveYou: Tiesto" t-shirt
I bet Diggers and Sasha and the rest of the real dj's have no clue that this "vote" is even going on, lol. Nor do they really care I bet.
They both do know as both of them toped the list once. And I remeber a vid interview with Sasha saying how he was happy with that. They both seem to actually CARE. Here's a recent quote from Sasha:
How do you feel about coming fourth in the DJ Magazine Top 100 poll? ?The top three DJs play a certain stadium filling trance sound, I don?t think my music comes close to that, so I?m really happy about it. There is definitely a gulf, perhaps even in age group, between who Tiesto and Van Buren play to and the people John [Digweed] and I play to. Tiesto?s playing stadium gigs to 25,000 and selling them out. I think in general we?re holding our own, considering the state of affairs out there. I?m quite happy to be up there. Every year I think this year they?re going to turn on me, but it hasn?t happened yet!?
And one from diggers from 02 (the year he was on top:
But when asked how much face-rubbing was involved when he knocked Sasha out of the coveted No. 1 slot on DJ Mag's clubber-voted Top 100 DJ poll, Digweed just has to laugh at it all.
"Sasha was really happy," Digweed says. "He won it the year before, and he also got DJ of the Year in Muzik magazine, so we both did well last year. At the end of the day, we're both mad about music, and when we get behind the decks, we both appreciate what the other one is doing."
cheers for the education on their views on bullshit awards.
Tiesto? It must be something wrong with DJMag readers.
i will vote for Hernan Cattaneo
All this nonesense is a bs publicity stunt.
Werd. I really could care less. Gimme a free cd and I'll buy the mag, but otherwise, they could pick anyone for top DJ.
hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha, thats all i can do is laugh.

As I always do.....John Digweed, James Holden, Luke Fair......How does Tiesto even make it on the top 100 list????
fuck djmag...
let's make our own dj ranking :P
is there any mod to do so -e-???
imo
Even though I hate trance, I must say it's pretty fucking awesome that Tiesto is playing for the opening ceremonies. As someone else said, it'll only be good for all of electronic music in general.
Re:: The DJmag top 100 DJs - Tiesto must be stopped!
Hmm...I'm from the same place as he....maybe, just maybe his shop might burn down within the next few weeks...or his house, with all the records in it.
:Naughty:
Essentially this list means jack
But I like participating in polls.
I don't know WHO I would vote for, but I know it's not him. No animocity, I just don't think he did anything to deserve it this year. A DVD? Big whoop.
I'm voting Chloe number one!
Lets get some new blood up there.
Re:: The DJmag top 100 DJs - Tiesto must be stopped!
Didn't Sydney veteran DJ Peewee Ferris compile the music for the opening ceremony of the Sydney 2000 games? From memory it really sucked... but he did throw in his track Genesis which does rock.
Mind you I've gone through bucketloads of drugs since then, so maybe I'm way off the mark here!
We may not forget pete tong.... he is amazing..... NOT.
Sasha is the man.
Hybrex
Re:: The DJmag top 100 DJs - Tiesto must be stopped!
like those dj polls are a reflection of anytthing other than who's the most photogenic?

tiesto will win because he is the best.
yes sir!
I hope you were being sarcastic ! ! !
Re:: The DJmag top 100 DJs - Tiesto must be stopped!
The Olympic gig isn't going to hurt his chances. Even though his music is spoon fed tunes for the masses, a dj playing during the opening ceremonies is good for all of us.
G.
Re:: The DJmag top 100 DJs - Tiesto must be stopped!
^^
Wrong.
Hearing Tiesto is enough put people off house music for life.
I?ll be voting for Diggers, Sasha, Fair and Hernan on principle if nothing else.
^^^Wrong
Tiesto was not voted No1 for no reason
Re:: The DJmag top 100 DJs - Tiesto must be stopped!
there is noooooooo way i'm gonna let ti?sto win again! too commercial for me :MadNow: i'm going to vote for deep dish :Bingo:
I'll vote early and often for Digweed even if it doesn't do any good.
