Re: Da Vinci Code Lie
Although quite a few things about this book are indeed fiction, and made up - other things are up for debate. The Priory of Scion never existed, and Jesus' bloodline most likely doesn't intertwine with Merovingian royalty from middle age France.
However, anyone who studies history enough - and what the Jewish people were like in the time of Jesus Christ - would be hard pressed to deny that Jesus most likely had a wife. Marry Magdoline has been a cause of upheaval LONG before Dan Brown wrote this book, and will continue to be discussed for a LONG time to come. Seriously though, look into it - for Jesus not to of had a wife is a lot more unbelievable then believing that he did. Lots of other aspects about the book are based on truths, the church suppressing Marry's existance? I don't know, but it seems likely to me
I thought that only happened at movies like Boyz in the Hood. You really think a bombing at a theater will occur? What happened to people's right to believe in what they want to believe?
i doubt bombings would happen but if you go see the movie in the eyes of the church you are a sinner so they could justify it.. Roman Catholics have been getting walked over for a long time. To think that the Vatican is going to do nothing about this is a little nieve.. Peaceful Protests isn't what the Catholic church is known for.. their history shows they go on crusades..

And why wouldn't she be? All the writing I've seen on her suggests she was seriously hot. :Naughty:
Re: Da Vinci Code Lie
seriously though, why cant people just respect each other, let teh hardliners be hardliners, its thier conviction, people are have zero faith in their lives choose that way too, let them enjoy the book/movie.

they are the biggest mafia in the world.
I'm Catholic but not a practicing one. With an Engineering degree, I look at things in a scientific look first. I do believe in God, but not in what man wrote about him. People need to believe in one thing and one thing only. this world would be a lot better if that were the case. Its a shame how this movie pisses people off, or comic strips piss people off. Everyone in this world is wound up to tight. It is just a movie and the goal of the movie is so the producers can make a buck. That is the bottom line.
Remember the passion, how people thought it was going to change they way people saw the slaining of Jesus to the hands of the Jews? It was a freakn Mel Gibson movie. If I met a person that changed their views to a Mel Gibson movie, I would shoot them.
Either way, I hope the movie is good and entertaining. No matter how you put it, it is simply a movie.
Re: Da Vinci Code Lie
whats chaps my ass is all the douchebags who suddenly say the church is evil and religion is shit. morons. on any level having faith in something whether its budda, jesus, mohammed, is a good thing. absence of faith just shows someone who was hurt in a way in the past. im not a big practitioner but i go to mass with the family on christmas and easter and i dont think im going to hell for that. but to these morons who say religion is bad... no it isnt, stepping on people's views is.
Re: Da Vinci Code Lie
I agree. live and let live

+1 couldnt say it better
Re: Da Vinci Code Lie
@ sightless: agree and disagree. I'll agree in general that when it comes to religion, live and let live is a pretty good maxim to live by. I think that rule ought to be suspended, however, when you're talking about people that engage in violence, bigotry and hatred in the name of God, Allah, Shiva, or whomever.
I disagree, however, with the idea that "absence of faith just shows someone who was hurt in a way in the past." You can't call upon folks to respect religion and simultaneously suggest that someone who chooses not to follow organized religion must be fucked up in some way. Tolerance for one's beliefs has to include tolerance for those that choose not to believe. Some people aren't religious. That doesn't mean they're "broken."
