so, it looks like he didnt break the record of holding his breath underwater for 8:58 seconds, around 7 minutes he started convulsing and the divers had to come in and rescue him. Good attempt tho. :Bingo:

Re: david blaine - drowned alive

well, i knew he wouldnt make it, it just wasnt possible. But having been submerged for as long as he was and getting off those chains was an accomplishment in itself.

agreed, you'd think after being submerged in water for a week, your skin would be so saturated and prune like.

Re: david blaine - drowned alive

A lot of ripping on David Blaine going on here. I never thought he was that bad....his magic tricks are fairly good. I think Chris Angel "The Mindfreak" is a way better target for nonsensical ass ripping.

Re: david blaine - drowned alive

you know you've entered the upper eschilons of haterism if you can hate on a soft spoken magician who does magic tricks in the streets and locks himself up under water for extended period of times.

couldn't agree more. Any clown can wrap a huge production with lights, music, and costumes around an obviously gimmicked piece of equipment that you'd never see anywhere but a magician's stage. The sleight of hand stuff Blaine does with everyday objects takes more talent, IMO.

At least he's stepping outside of the box a bit.

no, tell him to go back in the box.

Re: david blaine - drowned alive

Why don't people like him? Is it because he attempts things that people would never try in a million yrs?

I personally have never seen the guy, so I don't really understand....I have just noticed on a lot of forums people are bashing him

Re: david blaine - drowned alive

he's at Yale right now having his body studyed for the effects of staying underwater so long.

my prediction...... permanent shrinkage.

i was surprised to see that he was willing to put himself on display at the street level after the amount of tormenting he was put through while dangling in london.

DQ, I must say its great having your subjective opinion around here. It seems to come natural for you to see the other side of things and not to bitch before thinking.

I think he is pretty cool! Much better then Copperfield's cheese

Re: david blaine - drowned alive

I think the guy has a lot of talent. His dvds are really dope. Granted this may not be a magic trick per se but he's certainly showing how resilient the human body actually is and pushing it to new limits.

I don't get all the hate. If you don't like it. Don't talk about it. Ignore it. Go watch paint dry/tv.

Re: david blaine - drowned alive

^^^ some people just need to complain for the sake of complaining unfortunately.

I actually went and looked up some stuff on this guy, and he does some pretty neat stunts. If I actually had cable, I would definately tune into some of the things he has done. Defying the odds is impressive/fascinating if you ask me :)

#627988Post 28 of 45

Re: david blaine - drowned alive

^ Yeah I don't have cable either but pick up one of his dvds, cheap used on amazon, or check him out on youtube.com. His sleight of hand tricks are insane. He also has a crazy interaction with people. Its cool to check out.

#627998Post 29 of 45

Re: david blaine - drowned alive

Re: david blaine - drowned alive

I love his magic acts/shows, I just cant stand the dumb week-long "I'm in a box and I can't get out" repetition that when it comes down to it, is rather boring...

Making names appear on objects without knowing them beforehand though, that is sumthin

Re: david blaine - drowned alive

"Drowned alive". He should try some magic and do it next time, "drowned dead". Oxymoron or just moron?

#628153Post 33 of 45

Re: david blaine - drowned alive

he only earned $250K for this "trick" - what a rip.

The two hour show was just way too long. It was beat out by other shows here in the US, even dumb sitcoms like King Of Queens, until the final 1/2 hr. when everyone tuned in to see if he would succeed.

i agree. although he can be a bit annoying, it is interesting to see how far he can push his own body. i cannot imagine doing any of the stunts he has performed. i am not mentally strong enough. it's crazy how much mental endurance some of that shit takes. now if they could just wrap it up into a 1/2 hour show it'd be money.

side note: he must be just floating around in his own piss for a week, no?

Let's just say DQ some of us enjoy bashing for the mere need to enlighten others to the obviousness which they tend to run from And we won't get into that photo of you with Gary Busey on your myspace site.

Bash On.

I was told he was hooked up to a cathedar. Nothing like pissing in a tube for a week. As far as taking a shit, guess he had to hold it :NotMe:

I don't understand all the hate. The guy pushes his body to his limits, then donates his time to science so doctors can research something that they've never had a chance to research... and you call him a douche?

you're all turds
