Re:: John Marsh is the most boring DJ i ever heard

I actually liked most of fabric 3 but i concur with the majority opinion on this mix - i listened to it today and it really didnt do much for me - very dull track selection

Re:: John Marsh is the most boring DJ i ever heard

I am about half way through this set...you damn prog heads will bash anything that is not prog...be a little more open minded. So far this set has some cool tracks..some I could do without...but I can say that about many sets. This just happens to be more housier than than the average set on Kiss.

#235457Post 43 of 81

I for one didnt bash it because it isnt progressive. There are plenty of prog sets that are boring too. This just didnt do anything for me in particular. There are plenty of good house dj's out there that can get things jumping without being progressive.. ie: nic fanciulli at the radio one party at nikki beach. and saying well he is a warm up dj and that he isnt meant to blow the place up, he can still get things jumping and build into the headliners set without over shadowing said dj.

Housier? it's all house my friend, this just happens to be very dull house.

If this mix had someone elses name on it like Richards, you guys would be creaming your selves over this mix.

Re:: John Marsh is the most boring DJ i ever heard

Listen to Craig Richards EM. What the hell is that?????

I would rather listen to Marsh than a bunch of bonks and bleeps and shitty bass lines.

Sausage fest music........guys are the only ones that seem to get. I would much rather spend my night at a deep house night where there are tons of women shaking it rather than chin strokers. Any prog night is better IMO too. Good music is good music.

90% of what Digweed is playing is that good ol prog.(listen to his Beirut set) A lot of you guys say prog is dead too.

Sasha is just trying to find himself and has lost the plot.

The reason Digweed has passed Sasha is because Digweed is consistent. His music selection is based on melody and good music...not on just trying too hard to be different.

Seems like you guys are trying to be different just for the sake of it. Maybe dye your hair blue or something so you can stand out a little more or pierce something.

I digress

#238179Post 58 of 81

^^^ you seem to be making alot of general statements about people you dont even know. you guys, you guys, you guys..

#238184Post 59 of 81

To Robert Che:

to each his own buddy. i like digweed, and sasha, and craig richards. cant people like a little variety? is it required that a prog head cant ALSO be a tech-house or minimal fan? sasha put out a cd earlier this year that in my opinion rocks it harder than any cd diggers has put out on his own, even mmii, which is my all time fave diggers cd. notice the difference in quality between diggers GU's and sashas, for me, san fran and ibiza take the cake over any of the three digweed did. airdrawndagger and involver are superb.

and talking about clicks and beeps, sometimes simplicity is better for me. i can put on a matthew dear set and rock the fuck out for an hour, where sometimes i put a proggy set on and im just bored. its about exploring new sounds, its about what you like and not what other people want to listen to. please do yourself a favour and check out the first two tyrant releases if you havent. if your ass stops shaking throughout any of the 4 cds, i will apologize and bow down to prog as king of electronic music genres. just my opinion, and if everybody didnt have differences in taste, it would just not be interesting. some love zabiela, some cant stand his style. i think he rocks.

it shouldnt be about who is better, its a matter of who you like more, and that is all that is really important. i see where you are coming from, so dont think im disagreeing with you.

long live electronic music, in all its wonderful flavours except trance.

p.s. i liked the jon marsh kiss mix 8)

You really haven't got a clue mate :FuckOff:

#238192Post 61 of 81

Re:: John Marsh is the most boring DJ i ever heard

true.......

like is said I digress.

I have been around long enough on these boards and the GU boards(1999) and have read most of the reviews people give. I am speaking from that.

My first time seeing Sasha was in Ibiza @ Space in 1998. I can say that I have been around long enough to talk shit. I was a regular at Twilo as well and have seen him during the original Tyrant nights at Fabric when Ian Gotts was running the VIP.

Yellow in Japan is still one of my Favorite clubs as well as Stereo in Montreal. I have been going to WMC since 1996.

I love the music and have followed it as much as I could.

Like I said before, you guys were a little tough on Marsh.

Parroting other peoples opinions then?

Marsh is OK, but i expect better from a Digweed guest mix. Didn?t do it for me, i?m sure there are better DJ?s would have appeciated the chance.

Still horses for courses.

that is what I was talking about when I said true.......

I was making general statements. My bad.

#238207Post 66 of 81

Marsh was shit, total bollocks, should have stuck with the Beloved, at least they turned out a few classics, he isn't a good DJ, his skills suck and so does his track selection, he's just riding on his name as a classic artist, but he's no DJ of any worth.

#238208Post 67 of 81

your opinion chem. this is what we are talking about :P

a lot of people think minimal techno is dead boring. others find it invigorating. i am one of the latter. do you feel that richie hawtin, ricardo villalobos, and company are complete rubbish? like i said before, everyone is entitled to an opinion. and an opinion is always gonna be one of two things, right. or wrong. whether it is right or wrong depends on the opinion (right? wrong?) of others. mr. che has his opinions, i have mine, you have yours. it is fun to argue/pitch shit. nuff said

Sasha has been at the forefront of the dance scene long before any of these DJs you are talking about were, headlining raves in 1990, who else (apart from Carl Cox) can you name who is still there now? most of you were probably still in junior school then, you just don't realise the contribution Sasha has made to the music you think you know so much about

David Morales, Danny Tenaglia, and so on and so forth were there. Remember the Paradise Garage!!

House started out as a Chicago thing.

Mark Farina, Derrick Carter

Digweed and Sasha have said that they were influenced by these guys.....

Go on now..........

well you are taking it back even further, i was talking about the "modern" era of house music, not the grass roots of it, we could take it right back to the 70s and credit Dan Hartman & the Trampps if you like but that would be just silly.

BTW, Morales or Tenaglia never played at Paradise Garage

#238305Post 75 of 81

can't forget about the Plastik Man!

Carl Craig! Long live Detroit Techno!

Never said they played there....That was the place that influenced everyone....Mixing two records together was unheard of till then!
