So I decided on a mixer

Thanks to all for the great input. I decided to go with the A&H Xone:62 instead of the djm600 or djm800. The 800 was close but just way too expensive right now.

I figured my old mixer never had any "special effects" so why bother with it. Sound quality and durability surpassed for my decision. Now 1 questions remains. Can I purchase some kind of effects pad thingy to hook up to the xone 62 at a later time?

cheers and again thank you to those you gave input.

Re: So I decided on a mixer

You can add most any external fx device to your AH.

Wise choice on the mixer.

Re: So I decided on a mixer

i'm thinking heavily of selling my DJM-600 as I'm looking to buy some studio gear myself. I'm only in the thinking stages right now though.

#624975Post 16 of 31

Re: So I decided on a mixer

Yeah, the thinking process is what takes long, decisions, decisions.. etc. Im also gonna be purchasing the cdj800 mk2, but still "thinking" if a pair or just one cdj as I have technique turntables and a shit load of records..so 1 cdj should be enough to mix n' match digital with vinyl.

But, theres so much downloads out there and the price compated to vinyl is so god damn low!!!!!!!!!

#624981Post 17 of 31

Re: So I decided on a mixer

you got that right. digital downloads are just so much more easy to get and deal with nowadays.

#624986Post 18 of 31

Re: So I decided on a mixer

I never thought I would go digital. It's all expensive but I have the money, so why not... I guess it balances out in the long run with $1.49 per track. And I get to buy just the track I want not the entire LP / EP for one track and all other's are just shite. lol

I love u vinyl... but u understand. :p

Re: So I decided on a mixer

also... you dont have to BUY all the tracks all the time ;-)

Re: So I decided on a mixer

yeah i hated spending $12.00 on a 12" or a double 12" just to get one song. NO MORE OF THAT!!!!!!!

Re: So I decided on a mixer

Just wanted to add to the Allen & Heath topic: I just purchased a Xone: 02 and its perfect for a home studio...most of us don't spin on 3 decks simultaneously, so 2 channels is fine... The sound quality is superb, the overall layout very simple to use, yet w/ all the essential features...cueing is great, and the headphone amp is LOUD. I recommend this piece over the pricier A & H mixers... :)

I decided on the XONE:32 which is almost a 1 up from 02, with a lot more features.... It's still with UPS :D

Re: So I decided on a mixer

I was looking at the Xone:3D pretty seriously for a while, this would be my first departure away from Pioneer mixers. At that price point though I decided to go with the DJM-800. I am very happy with it and I got it new for about $1250. Still I think the XOne:3D would be great with ableton live.

Re: So I decided on a mixer

it's kind of funny this thread, as I'm getting ready to sell my mixer & Cd players to make money for a good computer and soundcard to produce my music with.

Re: So I decided on a mixer

good choice

dont worry about EFX

buy good tracks and u wont need EFX ;)

#642269Post 26 of 31

Re: So I decided on a mixer

about the only fx you might use in a night is delay and filtering during a breakdown.

Re: So I decided on a mixer

I am tempted to sell my extra DJM 500 and get the 800 at some point...

#643685Post 28 of 31

Re: So I decided on a mixer

I have used the coloring effects quit a bit. The harmonic effects are really useful to match two tracks that are in different keys. On the side of the color effects as well, the bit crusher and filter effects can make things sound really interesting. I also have an EFX-1000, using them in combination you can put more of "yourself" in the mix by being more creative. Jeffery, I own a DJM-600 as well, the DJM-800 effects are alot more useful than the 600. I didn't use the effects on my 600 very much, I would use the EFX-1000 for that. Now with the 800, there are a lot of options.

Re: So I decided on a mixer

yeah I'm in the market now for a new mixer...seeing as my DJM 300 just crapped out on me without warning about 10 minutes ago after 3 years of play.

First my goddamn radio in my car died. Then I spent an hour dealing with my recording software. Now there's no sound coming from my mixer, no matter what I do. I'm fucking pissed off as hell.

Re: So I decided on a mixer

I'm working on getting the 800 in the next couple of weeks. After watching Rik Parkinson's demo for Decks UK, I was sold. I love A&H mixers. Definatley unsurpassed quality. But, for my mixing style the pioneer suited more for me. Long live Pioneer!
