Bill, if your reading this, maybe you should test your software BEFORE releasing it?

Release XP, one month later release the SP1 patches to fill the holes your programming monkeys didn?t have time to close before the sales department had slapped it on the shelves.

^do mozilla do OS's?

#233360Post 6 of 28

Just using another browser doesnt cut it, many of the fixes patches holes in the operativesystem alone that can be exploited if you use IE, Opera, Lynx or whatever.

I got fed up with Microsoft so I bought a Powerbook. I am now happy happy happy.8)

#242270Post 23 of 28

^^^ Powerbook's are sexy :LoveYou:

Its been rumored that the new G5 powerbook will be made of Carbon Fiber Graphite. Titanium is sweet, but carbon fiber would probably make me have an accident in my pants. :oops: I might have to sell my car to get one or something.

On SP2, that BitTorrent issue is one that scares me. I will probably never upgrade to SP2 because of that. Everyone seems to be experiencing the same problem. Bastadz.

Re:: Windows update released

...there is a fix for sp2 already - Microsoft at its best again, patching the fix! I'm not sure that this will fix the bittorrent issue I have ...

Well try it out and let us know. 8)

#242281Post 26 of 28

better make a image of your Windows before you apply SP2 ya know just in case if you want to revert it back.

#242420Post 27 of 28

Re:: Windows update released

i have been using service pack 2 since release candidate 1 and never experienced any problems. not with bit torrent, kazaa or soulseek.

works just fine without any negative impact and i like the new firewall way better than zonealarm.

installed sp2 tuesday. only minor issues so far. macafee automatic update doesn't always work for me after sp2 update, but i check their site daily anyway. after completing a scheduled virus scan with mcafee, apps seem to occasionally freeze up which is solved by a reboot. will look for a patch to be released by mcafee or windows. in the meantime will try reinstalling mcafee. i can live with those issues. i love the anti-pop-up feature. no p2p or ftp problems for me, but i'm not using bit torrent.

one drawback i find is sp2 automatically installs version 9.0 of windows media player which is know to contain spyware & report back to microsoft. i think bazooka scanner may have resolved that with a registery edit they provided, but not sure yet...
