Just got in this evening and I'm here until Sunday evening for business. I was hoping for some recommendations for getting my prog. fix. Where to go, what to do, etc. Restaurants/Clubs/Lounges I shouldn't miss. Many thanx in advance for all advice!

nah, there's a long pier in chicago, navy pier. Mostly just shopping though. Well, I don't know if transit is still around, but it was good when I was there. Then there is a place called Excalibur which is connected to some other club that has good music on saturday nights I think. Then there is Sound Bar which is the latest cool place to hang out. I think Infusion and Lostep (Luke chable and the other one... uhh.. I'm out of the loop sorry!) this saturday night by the looks of things.

other than that, just go to some bars and get trashed. The 'six corners' area near wicker park is cool. I never really lived in the city proper, so my experience is limited. Hopefully someone else will chime in. Also google is your friend.

sound bar is one of the coolest clubs i've ever been to. smart bar also has loads of good music.

Pure has a night at Soundbar on Friday, Vision(the club connected to Excalibur) on Saturdays, and SmartBar usually has something going on as well. The sites to check out are [url]www.purefuture.com[/url] and also [url]www.smartbarchicago.com[/url]. As far as restaurants, what do you like? Chicago has thousands of great restaurants. The Cubs are out of town all week unfortunately.

Definately check out Soundbar, Vision, and Smartbar. Smartbar is by far my favorite venue here in Chicago. Vision is more of a big name DJ setting. Zentra is cool too if your more into the house sound. Plus they have an outside terrace that should be open by now that the weather is nice...I think. Sound-bar is cool I just have a bit of a gripe with that club after being kicked out at the Digweed show for not tipping the bartender, but there are definately some good shows coming up there. Tons of resturaunts, all depends on what you have a taste for. Shopping, check out bucktown, gramaphone records, milwaukee, the north side (clark & belmont).

best touristy desination... your gonna want to go to the top of the sears tower, but other than a sky deck there isn't much there. go to the john handcock building instead and go the bar at the top. have a couple of drinks while admiring the skyline. this is a must see stop around sunset and gets busy. get their early for the sunset and try to get a window table. you won't regret it.

Which location did you go to? I like the one on Wells (Downtown) where all the writing is on all the walls.. Glad that pick worked out for you, I always go back to my hotel room with left overs :)
