your thoughts?
i thought it was excellent......................................... that i missed it.
Re:: anyone catch the Da Vinci code special on ABC last nigh
I loved the book, I think there's so much truth inside. Well, I didn't see the program but it seems I did not miss that much.
i've heard the book was excellent... but i think a [program that tries to capture as much as the book does would be too much for someone to sink in. the book is self-paced so you can sit there dumbfounded as long as you want and pick up where you left off.
i refuse to read this book on general principle that everyone creams their pants over it.
people buy it and put it on their coffee table without even opening the pages.
those same people walk around with it to coffee shops, so everyone will see, they too are into the Divinci Code.
i've seen soccer moms carrying this book around the mall. :?
probably a great book, shame i'll never read it.
that's the most asinine reason for not reading a book I have ever heard.
that's just as bad as doing something because everyone else is doing it.
^^ isn't that a contradictory statement you just made nsite?
anyone see the onion article -- something along the lines of 'copies of davinci code litter airplane crash site'
i dunno.. ive not read it... ive heard its interesting, but pretty farfetched at times.
Re:: anyone catch the Da Vinci code special on ABC last nigh
what the hell is so special about this book anyway. is it just supposed to be a good book or does it uncover some conspiracy or something
my understanding is it talks about a secret group that davinci was supposedly a part of... who was responsible for keeping the secret of the true identity of christ.. so lots of theories about random stuff. (lol -- specific isnt it)
or something like that.
having not read it i dont really know.
Re:: anyone catch the Da Vinci code special on ABC last nigh
Has anyone read both the Da Vinci Code and Foucault's Pendulum? I've read Foucault (excellent book :) ) and everything that people have told me about da vinci is remarkably similar.
da vinci code is all about what the holy grail really is (or might be) and a 2000 year old secret order charged with protecting the secret that the catholic church apparently didn't want the world to know. its good... not quite sure its up to the pants creaming it seems to get from everyone... let down a bit by a couple of poorly strung togeather plot lines at the end IMO but still very good and very interesting in terms of biblical history
i liked pretty much.
(and agree with the post above)
i didnt see it, and i still havent read the book, gonna run over to my parents and grab it this weekend :Bingo:

I've read every Dan Brown book except DaVinci Code. they are all enjoyable "intelligent" beach spy novels if there is sucha thing. but this one is defo hyped way too much. I'll still read it though....

^ reading on holidays is weak xeb. you should be more focused on drinking and smoking pot.
this da vinchi book sounds ok. i just want to read it because i hear its good, not because i care about the writer or his ideas. :NotMe:

i was on holiday at my girlfriends parents summer house in the inatlian countryside... with them there.... they don't approve very much of me... took them 2 years and us moving in togeather before they'd even meet me, so i was on best behaviour ;)
sounds like a nightmare. i'm thankful my gf's parents like me. ive had plenty of friends whose parents hated me though. mom's can be real bitches sometimes.
was actually ok after a rather stressful start. we met them in rome - they'd driven down and were hiring another car that we were going to use while there. my gf can't drive so i was going to be in charge of driving, so i had to go back in one car with her dad driving half way and me the other half, and my gf and her mom in the other car. i'd only met them once for dinner prior to this, so was basically shitting myself for that whole car trip (about 2 1/2 hrs) while trying to make intelligent conversation and avoid awkward silences and concentrate on driving (in a country i'd never driven in, and on the wrong side of the road for me!!). took first 2 days of the holiday just for me to relax after that :? :? :?
they seem to like me though.... they're still slightly worried i'm a crack addict leading their daughter astray, but seem to be growing to the idea of me
only met them once in 2 years? wow. funny though, i've been with my g/f for 2and a 1/2 years now and still never met her grandparents on her dads side. the thought makes me weak in the knees after so much time. :?
yeah, the book reckons that the holy grail is evidence that christ was married to mary magdelene and that she bore his child. This would obviously fuck up christianity a bit if it was true!
Its an average book with an above average conspiracy and some little riddles to break. Its written in short snappy chapters that entice you to read just one more. Its nothing special but enjoyable if grossly over hyped. Pulp Faction!
