Haha I feel that! :DHow the drivers been for your 3D with ya Thinkpad?

#734505Post 163 of 466

Re: post photos of your dj setup here :)

haven't had any driver problems at all. I've only been using Midi Out of the xone to the computer, and I might have read that going the other way was problematic, but can't remember. But yea, never had the xone or my computer crash... at least I don't think soo..... hmmm...

Actually my computer crashed a few times in the last couple of months, and now that I think about it it was after I got the xone (but also after I moved). but it never happened when the xone was plugged in... I'm not sure if it's possible that it could have caused that...

oh, looking at the xone site looks like they released new drivers! Hope they fix my crashes (if they were even related)...
Ive actually replaced it already! I have put a Rane Empath in its place, more suits my style of flicking the upfaders in and out, and scratching stuff in, as well as the long mixes.

Still have the 464 - using it for the live PA rig. Might sell to it fund building a custom controller for Ableton soon...
I have to ask...what makes a person want to buy a mixer with that many faders and that BIG of a mixer. I remember seeing Sasha in the DH DVD with one of those with 4 1200's hooked up, which was sweet.

Have you checked out the new Urei 2 channel mixers. Really sweet stuff for not a lot of money...faders like glass and full infinity kills on all the eq...makes for some sweet transitions.

Nice set up Marcus. I goess your really into sound from that straight tonearm on your 1200. Along with all that equpitment.

Let me ask you this,,, how do you like that interface you have...it's the forscrite box right...or is it the lexicon, they both look a lot alike from a distance.

464 has a dedicate monitor path with dual LED read outs. Also the routing is escellent with dual send on each channel. All four mono channels have 100mm VCA throw faders and phantom power. Miss mine O well out with the old in with the new etc

Yea the Rega RB250 is sweet I bought the whole deck off Mark out of Sleepfreaks they run a shop called O'brian Hifi in London, I am about the upgrade it to a Origin Live Silver and get Mark to Mod the arm in regards of the head-pickup (Part you pace on your index finger to cue with) then send the RB250 to be upgraded internally :

http://www.tonearm.co.uk/silver-tonearm.htm

Should sound even better then, gonna finally get back to two SL1200Mk2's again as thew other is a MK1 as you can see.

As for the Audio interface is a Focusrite Saffire (2 in 10 out), yea I love it and have a second Saffire LE (The black version with 6 in 6 out) coming in a few weeks.Pre amps are fine for encoding vinyl (My main reason for purchase), great sound, I reviewed it for ALDJ here:

2 Drum Machines, 4 outputs on a synth, effects, and a sampler....

;)

Its a performance mixer, not just a DJ mixer.

Who the hell needs two drum machines running at the same time. That's kind of stupid as you can always just have the one for all your tracks. Dj's don't make music complicated enough to need two drum machines. And Richie Hawtin is the ONLY DJ I've ever heard of that uses a drum machine with his sets...least he used to.

The rest I can understand, but there were decks hooked up to it, not synths.

#740990Post 176 of 466

as long as you are DJing, that is all that matters!
better than nothing, huh?
tis indeed! I'm just starting out and its the most affordable way at the moment. next step will prolly be a cdj of some sort. although midi pad or controller look nice as well, the new xiosynth looks pretty hot. but thats more production than djing.

Do you use it for production or for performance...or both? it might sound better if you got yourself some better speakers. other than that best of luck to ya.

Umm... are you serious? Ok - maybe this will clear it up. I'm a producer, and a DJ, so I must now be able to handle more than one drum machine at once. ;)

Tell me then, genius, what would be the easiest way to mix from one of your own tracks to another? Oh... right... two drum machines...

Richie seems to be the only DJ the YOU HAVE EVER HEARD of using a drum machine in a mix set. That doesn't mean that there arnt many, many more you havnt.
The rest I can understand, but there were decks hooked up to it, not synths.
Hang on... I will quote something I have already said to clear this one up...
Ive actually replaced it already! I have put a Rane Empath in its place, more suits my style of flicking the upfaders in and out, and scratching stuff in, as well as the long mixes.

:D

Also - some other benefits of using a 464 'just' for DJing...

Insert points on the main outs - used for vocal ducking in the radio station.

Separate feeds to a recorder - So you can record the same set, with, and without announcements.

if i were mixing from one track to another. I'd use my mixer and my cd's.

and you need to watch who you try to flame on here. the guys on here don't put flaming too lightly.

and THANKS for the genius comment...that made my day!:D

Hi mate, hows things? Yeah i love the mixer. The sound quality is excellent, the faders feel good and the build quality is there. This mixer edges it over my XONE:92 because its so versatile. I've just started getting into production, so i'll be adding some more kit real soon. :)

#780920Post 195 of 466

Re: post photos of your dj setup here :)

I've been thinking of eventually getting an 800. But i'd like to customize it to where the eq knobs can cut out 100% of the sound. That's one of the things I love about the new Urei and Mackie mixers. But neither have the effects like Pioneer does it. Gotta love that delay.
