Chris Fortier
Re: Chris Fortier
He is my hero since his Bedrock003-album. Balance007 was the cherry on the top :)
Re: Chris Fortier
saw him for the first time last weekend. had high high hopes for a night of serious prog action building from the slowest deepest filth but sadly this didnt materialise. he was playing back to back with anthony pappa and was billed for playing an hr on then an hr off, but they ended up tag teaming it and for some reason found the need for banging it out from the start (like peak time...wtf?!?!). Needless to say i didnt hang about much, but yes, the boys compilations and remixes/productions are top notch
One of my favourite tunes to this day is Fade - No Resolve
Re: Chris Fortier
Fortier and papp back to back that had  written all over it. too bad they hit it hard from the start. recok if thy started off groovey would have been sweet.
Re: Chris Fortier
I don't know - he used to be such an inspiration to me when he was playing some seriously cool prog. Now I find him a little too electro influenced and I'm just not enjoying his selection that much these days.......
Maybe it's just me :D :D
Re: Chris Fortier
Maybe bro. but i guess u gotta move with the times. i am not saying that play whats popular but try check out different styles of music with staying with a unique sound of your own. when i listen to prog these days i am not feeling it as much as i used to. maybe my brain has been infected with this minimal techno/electro sound that has been going on for a while now. i still have my own style though. what i normal do is download sets and listen to them and pick a few tracks that i like. it is very rare that i will like the whole set or should i say 1 out of 3 which i guess is not bad but that leads me to another question. how do u guy's and gals find out bout tracks? do u go by lables, sets, buzz word etc. usually like i mentioned before i will listen to sets and try hut down the tracks. also is there a good site for finding tracklists besides ms??
Re: Chris Fortier
He's very minimal and techy these days ... not really electro.
Re: Chris Fortier
he's pretty solid.

Re: Chris Fortier
Yup, tore the place up the last time I caught him. Played some evil shit. There's a set of his floating around in Promos, check it out.
Re: Chris Fortier
i think chris fortier is pretty awesome, defanitely one of the better djs
Re: Chris Fortier
Got to give him credit for changing his style so much. Compare his first Kiss mix from 2000 with his recent one from 3 weeks ago. I know there is a 6 year gap, but the style of the tracks is so different, yet both sets are top notch.
He really knows how to program a set - his recent Kiss mix is a great example, I am really digging it.
Surprisingly his Balance CD was a little too eclectic for my tastes and I was bored in places, but he's still a top draw DJ.
BTW other sites for tracklists - try www.arts.ualberta.ca/kiss for all Digweed kiss 100 tracklists
Re: Chris Fortier
i havent heard him in ages, but he always seemed pretty good. i liked (a few years ago mind) his unfortunately titled mix cd "tranceamerica" (its not a trance cd, its prog)
he is playing here on saturday, my buddy is opening. i, however, will be up by canada and therefore not in attendance. oh well.

what podcast are you talking about? I can't find one for him in itunes?
Re: Chris Fortier
Ace DJ, love his style. His balance CDs were the best mixes i purchased last year.
Plus he hits Twisted Melon in London start of June, ace
Re: Chris Fortier
bedrock 3 is seriously cool. if i were to dust off anything in my prog collection, thats probobly the first choice. he's also a really nice guy and is really passionate about the music. he still works to try and help promote EDM (of all kinds) into movie soundtracks, advertisting, etc.although i wouldn't say hes playing minimal now. tech house? yes absolutely.
what podcast are you talking about? I can't find one for him in itunes?
He may be talking about the podcast Chris did for ILR.
Re: Chris Fortier
He definitely changed the style of music he's been playing but it's still good nonetheless.
Re: Chris Fortier
him & Cusick = my favorite 2 DJs ever.

Re: Chris Fortier
fortier is the name of the moment, pushing the old, progressive vibe with new, innovative sounds. enough said.
Re: Chris Fortier
from what I've herd CF isn't that impressive. Not sure if he's my cup of tea or not. I'm willing to listen to more of his work given his popularity. Usually I know right away.

with fortier you will know right away!
Re: Chris Fortier
He's playing in town in about a month or so.
Debating if I should go. Never experienced him live.

Re: Chris Fortier
saw him last july in tampa, i had just picked up balance 007 a few weeks earlier, so i had to go see him live, since i thought the mix was awesome...he totally blew me away! i expected more of the vibe from the cd, but even with friends who dont really listen to this music couldnt help dance their ass off. i even got to speak with him after the set for a little bit. definitely wont forget.
oh shit didnt realize the poster above me said he will be in town in a month. as i live in san diego now! have to catch that fo sho! where will he be playing at?

Belo, Saturday April 29th.
Re: Chris Fortier
My view is that Chris is that still excellent DJ/Producer with a cracking record label .. its just a pity that the Fortier of 2005/2006 perhaps suffers from the same change of direction during recent times that Digweed and Sasha have fallen prey to. His Bedrock comp. and 2002-2004 sets are excellent and still get heavy rotation. While his currently style doesn't appeal as much these days he still gets my full support - musically everything comes back around at some stage anyway. I'll have to make it to Turnmills in London during April for his one-date Uk appearance.
