I just got an IM from my friend andrew grant of circoloco...he said he's gonna check out JZ tonight at Pacha...i thought he was talking about JZ (James Zabiela)...he said "No, Jay-Z, the rapper." apparently he plays 2-3x a week...so does grandmaster flash. hip-hop is cool and all, but i was hoping to get back to ibiza again someday and listen to some nasty beats, but if it's gonna be all hip-hop, i can go to any swanky pseudo club in new york and save my $$

word.

today's hip hop blows. nothing like ... mob, mos, liquid swords, jedi mind tricks, etc, etc, etc.

True that today's hip hop blows.

But I dont think its taken over Ibiza. Pacha has always had the Global Room which plays different types of music and a lot of hip hop.

Space just opened a new room called Caja Roja (Red Box) with breaks, hip hop, funk, etc.

I dont think it will ever take over Ibiza, get bigger.. yeah maybe but no way it will take over house

I THINK THE TERM HIP HOP HAS LOST ITS WAY OVER THE PAST 10 YEARS OR SO. RAP DOESNT = HIP HOP

RUN DMC LL COOL J BEFORE 1990 ERIC B AND RAKIM

THATS HIP HOP.. IMO

Re:: Hip-hop has taken over Ibiza...

it's infectious. the majority of people in this world do not listen to house music....sad but true. i like when people ask you what kind of music you listen to and you say house music...then they give you that look like they're about to take a huge dookey in their pants. i'm sure it's good for business and the owners of the clubs don't care either way...they're making some serious cash. i mean, we finally find a place where we can spread the love and they find us. it's only a matter of time until ibiza is the hip-hop mecca of the world.

Re:: Hip-hop has taken over Ibiza...

I dont care if hip hop spreads, but the thing is, people go to Ibiza for other types of music, so flooding the dancefloor with music they dont want to listen to is not an option.

People have been complaining about "today's hip hop" for the past 10 years. You just have to look and find what you like. theres a bunch of artists that still make incredible hip hop. Old-School is Old-School and you have to respect it for what it is and most of the classics come from that, but there is still some great albums out now.

Also, hip hop is a movement, a culture, rap is its music. Rap is not "commercial" hip hop.

If some of you like hip hop and need some recent stuff, hit me up i got a lot of great stuff to share.

jut ibiza trying to attract some americans. if you mention ibiza to anyone whose not into dance music all you get back is how sad it is. i can't see serious hip-hoppers or whatever the frustrated white middleclasses are calling themselves these days coming to ibiza in drobes with their homies (sic).

Re:: Hip-hop has taken over Ibiza...

There have always been lots of different styles in Ibiza, but Hip hop will never become that established over there cos the majority of the ibiza crowd won't like it.

May have a place in some west end bars or Es Paradis or somwhere tho.

well said mate.. but as we know, most all things go in cycles. We will just have to find another Island Paradise to move to for the interim. :D

Having been to the beautifull island 6 times now i really cant see the day when hip hop takes over. Itll be a very sad day if it does though. I think that stuff should go to Aya Napa where it belongs.

Re:: Hip-hop has taken over Ibiza...

Best to stay in the Hip-Hop free zones -

Bora Bora/Space Terrace in the daytime ... Space Discoteque at night. Pacha on a Thursday also seems safe :UnderCov: (Sasha's Renaissance nights/Deep Dish Yoshitoshi nights).

I'll be there in just over 4-weeks.

:Twilo:

He he, and this year will be my seventh if i can get enough time of work to go. I`ve been to other places but nothing compares to Ibiza... nothing at all.
