debt collections. I had to call people and get their money. it lasted for about 4 weeks... 4 weeks way too long.

Never really had a worst job.... been pretty lucky I guess. The one I probably liked least was working as a "server" for a family friends catering company. It was good money, no cleanup duties, free food and booze though.... :D

i had a "tech support" job for a company that dealt with real estate agents... basically holding their hand while using our website, and the job turned pretty quickly from me taking incoming calls to making outgoing calls, trying to sell them stuff they didnt want. i very quickly became disgruntled and thank god i'm not working for that piece of shit company any more. (when i started the company had about 30 people in the office, when i left, there were - including me - 4 people left plus the ceo, who by this point is probably/hopefully bankrupt as a motherfucker)

I used to work at Bally Total Fitness as a maintenance clerk. Basicly, I cleaned the machines and slacked off until later on in the night when i had to clean the showers and sauna room. In doing so, i had to clean all the pubes off of the drains.. all that for minimum wage... not fun.

We had to get IT directors on the phone to take a 30 minute survey, and every three questions the script would throw in a "just a few more questions..." Sometimes you'd get 90% done and people would hang up, which I don't blame them for one bit. We were treated like cattle and the worst part was this piece of shit dickhole named Neil that managed out group. The guy wore these hopelessly outgrown 110% polyester clothes straight out of 1976. He was the most brainless bean-counting pencil-pusher I have ever met in my life, completely incapable of independent thought and could only follow directions, in other words the perfect middle manager![/COLOR]

^^^ My previous job was somewhat similar, although we were not doing surveys.... I worked at an IT Consulting company as an account manager.... i.e. boss handed down accounts and we serviced them with Consultants and take care of client needs....

Time came in 2000 - 2001 when the .com bubble burst, and our responsibilities increased to cold calling on clients. Man did I H.A.T.E. calling IT Managers and trying to setup accounts with them, people would hang up with us left right and center. Not to mention the nice things some would say before hanging up.

THE MOST demoralizing thing I have done.

I had just been discharged from the Marines and was waiting restlessly over the summer to begin my degree in the fall. Going to school in a small town in West Virginia, I had very little options for employment so I got a short term job as a server at a Cracker Barrel.

What I hated the worst is waiting on fat fucks with undisciplined kids that abused their existence on the earth and at my table. On many counts I could remember restraining myself from snatching some of these people up.

I always tip 30% if service is good!

I used to cold call for a credit card company as well... I would try to sell the cardholders some crappy credit card insurance. Talk about mean people! Karma is a bitch though as all those people who were mean to me got a call at 2AM from me or one of my drunk buddies.

Telelmarketing, hands down. What a miserable experience that was. Apart from the normal issues of having everyone crestfallen when they answer the phone and have it be a sales call, yell at you, cuss you out, etc., I had one day when I called 4, count 'em [B]4[/B], people who had passed away and I just reminded whomever it was that picked up the phone of their loved one's death. It was terrible. One call that night, I'll never forget it:

Me: Hello, is Mrs. Jones in? Him: No, she's been dead for ten years. Me: Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. Him: God, I miss her. It's a lonely life. [begins to cry]

It was heartwrenching.

Didn't help that I sucked at it. What can I say, I was selling complete shit and couldn't trick myself into thinking it wasn't.

Oh well. Didn't last long, at least...

Yea well...

Me and a mate used to spit on burgers made for annoying drunken fuckers, screaming at the counter, he pissed in a large coke cup, i shot all kinds of sauce thru the kitchen, another colleague threw a bottle of whisky in the milkshake machine, cheese sticking contests (cheese-covered walls), for pickles the same story, rating chicks at the counter by shouting a number of hamburgers (even if there were none coming, confusing the guy checking the bin), throwing smurfs from happy meals into the frying pan rendering it useless with rush hour just starting and so making my manager stress the fuck out....anything to fuck around basically.

Also been marshall in a go-kart centre, and even though i've gotten into a fight with a customer and have been called many unpleasant things, I loved the job. Simply cos I was the man in power: you don't listen, I kick you out :D And since they're heavy on safety with that kind of thing, personnell is always right, not the customer, nyihahahahahah!! :twisted:

i never minded telemarketing, it was a challenge & i was somewhat good at it, but if you do it too long you will burn out.

for me, my worst job was working at nedicks, which used to be a hot dog fast food place here in new york city. my boss was this ahole that was younger than me. i had to wear this really ridiculous pointed white hat. i worked in lower manhattan serving hot dogs to tourist. one day the ahole boss got in my face for giving out change of a dollar to some tourists. apparently giving change to people that need it was not the thing to do. i told him to go f*** himself, & as i was walking away to quit the job, he told me if i leave i would lose my job. what an a**hole. :twisted:

Dish washer in a Mexican restaurant. It was family owned and the boss was a tyrant. I also had to fry the frozen dough so when you put it in the fryer it would splatter all over. If we broke a dish we had to pay for it. This one kid dropped a whole tray of coffee cups and dropped his apron and walked out. He would have had to work for a month to pay for it.

It was my first job and I enjoyed the money.
