Re: Cheney shoots fellow hunter

Re: Cheney shoots fellow hunter

what could happen to cheney if the old man dies?... this is a serious question

#566150Post 45 of 67

Re: Cheney shoots fellow hunter

since the gunshot wounds are not life threating nothing from a criminal standpoint since they wouldn't be the actual "cause of death". now if the old guy dies from a heart attack or "other" complications you definitely could have a civil case....

Re: Cheney shoots fellow hunter

from what I have heard a bullet is loged in some artery so it would be the cause of death. he should resign for being such a fckin thick

grand jury.

#566361Post 48 of 67

Re: Cheney shoots fellow hunter

it's not a bullet... it's birdshot... small steel pellets much like bb's. apparently one entered his heart through his bloodstream and he had the heart attack. so yes, if the guy died due to one of the pellets the veep shot him with he would be culpable.... at worst involuntary manslaughter one would think but that's if, IF charges were brought against him and a grand jury decided it should go to trial....

Re: Cheney shoots fellow hunter

Sounds like Cheney's friend that got shot is going to be ok. Sorry you left wingers, but no involuntary manslaughter charges. I know that you left wingers wanted this guy to die, so Cheney would get in trouble.

It was an accident that's all. The press seems offended that they didn't get the information quick enough. I don't blame Cheney for not rushing out to the left wing press to give them a story. Maybe if they didn't constantly attack the administration so much then they'd get information quicker.

^^ i was just answering a legal "what if" question.....

Re: Cheney shoots fellow hunter

I'd press charges just for shits and grins if I were in his shoes. I'd demand $200k for medical and therapy bills

Re: Cheney shoots fellow hunter

I don't really understand the hubbub about waiting 18 hours to alert the press, especially since some of that time was in the middle of the night.

There was one thing that I heard bantered about that I thought was interesting though, and thought I'd see if there was any hunters out there that had a thought on this: a guy called into a radio program I was listening to that indicated that under normal circumstances when there was hunting accident like this one, the very first thing that would happen would be that the shooter would pee in a cup, take a breathalyzer, etc. for a tox screen whether there was any indication of impairment or not, purely as a matter of course.

In this accident, however, the Secret Service evidently forbade the local authorities from speaking with Cheney until the next morning. Could he have been drunk when this happened? When I look at Dick Cheney, I see a guy who looks like he'd probably enjoy tipping the glass from time to time...

Re: Cheney shoots fellow hunter

BTW, I have learned via Rush Limbaugh since I made my last post that rumors that Cheney was drunk have actually been circulating the left-wing sites. That was actually news to me and I'm not actually advocating that point of view, because I frankly have no clue. I'm mostly curious if it is true that a tox screen would normally be done automatically and immediately.

wow that would be something..... do you think thats why they waited 18 hours ?

I don't know -- to me that seems like a better explanation for why the local police weren't allowed to speak with him until the next day, if true.

In fairness to Cheney, if I shot a buddy in the face, it would probably be a little while before a press release would have been at the forefront of my mind. Cheney will never be accused of being overly warm and cuddly, but that would really mess with your head, I would think.

Re: Cheney shoots fellow hunter

dude, they waited so that they could find out his condition, protect his identity and inform his family, much like any police authority does when someone is murdered. you never see the local police cheif telling the identity of a victim until either the family or the victim OK's it.(or it is leaked)

Re: Cheney shoots fellow hunter

^^^^ So not true and SOOOO not connected.... you protect the identities of children and minors.... not the VP of the most powerful country in the world who's taking some serious R&R while fighting for world peace.... course they had to give the man a break

not to mention this isn't even a murder trial..... kids getting shot in schools make it faster to the 6 o clock news than Mr. Cheney did

Re: Cheney shoots fellow hunter

Cheney admitted to having a beer at lunch, but he and the people with him said he wasn't drunk. I'm not a hunter, but lots of people like to drink alcohol and hunt. Not a good combination imo, but it happens. I doubt Cheney was drunk when he shot his buddy, but we'll probably never know.

That's always been my thought as well -- when I think of hunters, I tend to see some beer in the equation as well. Hell, there was a store in the town where I went to college called "Liquor Guns & Ammo."

Oh well. We probably never will know one way or the other.
