Hey guys, my g/f and I are going to purchase a laptop within the next day or so from Costco, since we have a $1,500 gift cert there. We're looking for a light laptop for her to use at school. Here are the two we're interested in... which would you choose and why:

DELL http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=11099440&whse=BC&topnav=&browse=

or

HP http://www.costco.com/CTO/HPConfigurator.aspx?Prodid=10029570&whse=BC&topnav=&browse=&model=ED338AV

We would upgrade the HP to the 2.0 ghz so it'd be comparable to the Dell.

Thanks for the feedback!

Re: Dell vs. HP

Dell

upgrading the processor isn't everything...the fact it also has 2GB of RAM to the 512 (which would also cost more to upgrade) seals it...(you'd spend more in the end)

that and Dell's are much better as is...

nice you're spending the card on her...not getting one of those big screen TV's or anything there instead? :ROFLMAO:

The Dell actually comes with 1GB of RAM. It says it's upgradable to 2 GB.

Heheh... I hear ya. Gotta love how they've got 20 big screens staring right at ya, right when you walk in!

Re: Dell vs. HP

I would go with the Dell. I bought one recently and dig it. If you take a look at the build on HPs...they seem to be way too bulky and awkward.
