would love some more, they rock!
Ahh Up Ya Ronson, i used to go there every weekend. One time in particular sticks in mind... We were all dancing away minding our own business when the music went off all the lights came on and hundreds of cops flew into the club searching for people dealing drugs. A very strange experience to say the least
Brilliant club.

same thing happened down at Verbeer Manor in Cullompton about 12 or so years ago, Billy Nasty was on the decks, then the music stopped, lights came on and about 30 coppers charged in, accompanied by Roger Cook and a camera crew
*MJ, did you ever go to any of the "12 nights of summer" residency that Sasha did there in 93? i used to have a few mixtapes from these nights, fucking awesome, i never actually made it there though, if only i had a time machine..... hmmm

Yeh i went to 2 of them sir and i can`t remember a bloody thing about them it was that long ago. All i know is i went twice so he must have been good. UYR was a bit of a small club that had a fantastic atmoshphere, it was always too damn warm though.
Chem they were the days... they just don`t make em like that anymore

The Manor @ Ringwood. Now there was a night. :D All the parties at Tee Pee Valley Brecfa, even better. :P
I have to say i was dissapointed with this Sasha set, i was imagining it would be like the Universe set, much more oldskool. I do like this set, for me it shows the evolution from Universe to what Sasha has become now. And the banging classic tunes
Check out the okdskool link and have a listen to the Universe set, shame about the MC, annoying but funny!
why is it that a set from 1993 seems ancient? but when its not dj/music related, its just a couple years ago? :?
up yer ronson was one of the best nights that I ever went to. the 12 nights of summer when sasha was resident for the whole of the summer were amazing, and the atmosphere in the pleasure rooms was always good

They sure don't, but at least we have the memories (and the scratchy recordings)

If you haven't heard it before, check out Sasha @ G-Spot, Leeds 1992, i would have chosen this one over the Up Yer Ronson set but i just thought the Up Yer Ronson set would be a bit more accessible to peeps who are new to this era, the G-Spot set is a fucking masterpiece, Sasha even plays my favorite track of all time in there :P

Made it to opening and closing of Sasha's summer residency, plus I think I was there the night it got raided! Though I think it happened more than once at my time at Leeds Uni........................
All I can remember about the opening night was that it was one of the most rammed night's ever and there was so many people in there that it was actaully dripping water off the ceilings, I'm guessing from people's sweat :HolyShit:
Did any of you make it too Deep Dish 8hr set at Hard Times :?: Now that was awesome night :Bingo:

Wasn't the '12 nights of summer' back in 95? I went up to Leeds for one of them - Sasha was really, really, really late (yes, even later than usual) but Marc Auerbach played an absolute blinder. And Anne Savage and her twin sister were on the dancefloor. When he finally came on The Man Like just ripped it apart with a load of early Perfecto stuff like Tilt's I Dream. I've got a mix tape somewhere which I need to dig out...

I've also got Sasha's Hot Mix from Radio 1 on May Bank Holiday in 93 which doesn't sound anything like as dated as the Up Yer Ronson birthday set - it's only half an hour but it's wicked. :Smiling:
^^^you gonna rip these to mp3 dude??? :P
^^^you gonna rip these to mp3 dude??? :P
I'm just in the process of converting my tapes to mp3 files - I've also dug out:
Sasha @ Chuff Chuff from '94 Sasha @ The Zap Club, Brighton from '94 Sasha @ The Que Club, Birmingham from '95
However, I'm clueless about how and where to upload - point me in the right direction and I'm happy to share these musical gems :)
Re:: Sasha @ Up Yer Ronsons 1st B'Day, Leeds 1993
Those were really magical days for me, it was the summer i discovered house music and dance culture, everything was so new and exciting! Bascics and Ronson were so good, 1995/6 NYE was a joint party with everyone from Sasha to Jeremy Healy on!
I remember dragging all my mates to Ronsons 4th bday in 1996, Sasha played a really epic, hypnotic set, i remember him playin Delacy "That Look in You're Eye" and it sounded amazing on the sound system!
I remember Boxed did a double tape pack of the 12 nights of Summer...would be wicked if someone put those on the net!

ya man i noticed the same thing. it might as well be the 50's when you hear it. sooooo long ago. did dance music even exist in 1993?...
OOOps , double post.
Did any of you make it too Deep Dish 8hr set at Hard Times :?: Now that was awesome night :Bingo:
Not me
Where was this as Hard Times moved places more than any other club? Was it at that club on Boar lane next to Squares, i cant remember its name now. Hard times started off in Mirfield near where i live then moved on to my home town of Huddersfield. I still say that when it was there that and the Hacienda where the best clubs i ever visited.
This thread is bringing so many good memoris back for me.
Re:: Sasha @ Up Yer Ronsons 1st B'Day, Leeds 1993

That would rock!

its already floating around on slsk dude.
i also went to the final night of the 12 nights residency. ended up q'ing ages to get in which was kinda interesting, as in our youthful exuberence, we decided it was necessary to munch a load of drugs to avoid the risk of getting busted on the way in. haha. never again.
Oh the memories -
Had one of my best nights ever on certain subtances at Back To Basic's many may moons ago .... hope to go back some time soon
So if Mr Coe doesn't re-appear, I've had it on good authority that a certain H Cattaneo does a fairly decent house set at BTB's.

Youre authority tells you right sir, i saw him a couple of months back at basics playings his housy sets and he was outstanding. The only problem was he didnt play long enough. I`ll be there this Saturday taking in the fat beats of Derrick Carter.
