Re:: BURNING ONE LONG MP3 FILE TO CD?!?!???

The only way you could put that 3 hour mp3 on CD and have it play would be on an mp3 compatiable CD player. You make a data CD with the mp3 on it. Then the player would correctly read the file.

The reason you can't convert the mp3 to WAV is because a standard CD formar is 16-bit 44.1Khz Redbook Audio (.WAV) is limited to 800 MB or 80 mins. on a CD.

Re:: BURNING ONE LONG MP3 FILE TO CD?!?!???

^^^ exactly. there are also 99 min cds out there but they are not standard so you cant play them in all cd players. I don't think there is a way to compress the three or so hours of time down to 80 minutes on a cd !!! you have to go with the mp3 data cd

can you burn an audio format to a dvd and have it play thru a normal cd player? i'm sure it could fit longer than a 3 hour set.

^^ c'mon garry. dvd's dont play in cd players. Duh.

a cd player which plays/reads mp3's is your best bet. most DVD players will also play mp3 data discs. mine does.

buy an I-POD and a broadcast tool (don't know the exact name of it) where u can listen to the sound on your car stereo like radiostation's (radiowaves). Just select the frequency on the broadcast tool and your carstereo...viola and your done. ;)

Re:: BURNING ONE LONG MP3 FILE TO CD?!?!???

I will normally split large mp3 sets i really like into chunks of 79 mins. and burn onto a cd each.. eg. when i want to burn some of my favourite essential mixes, which are each 120 mins. i will split this into 2 chunks of 60 mins. and burn onto 2 cds

hope this helps

Use HJSplit, you probably already have it for joining downloaded [ms] sets.

Re:: Program for splitting a long set to fit into a CD

What I think you want to do is burn a long mp3 onto multiple Audio CDs for playing in regular CD players.

I use CoolEdit 2000 - cheap version of CoolEdit Pro which is not available anymore since the software was taken was taken over by Adobe. It is now called Adobe Audition which costs mega bucks (bastards :Pissed: ). You can use this to spit the set into multiple parts, add fade ins / outs and normalise and if you want to spend the money then this will probably do.

Otherwise, Nero burning ROM allows audio files to be split, and you can specify start and end positions. I'm not sure, but I think that it may also have a fading filter. It also ships with an audio editor. I've never used this as I have CoolEdit, but I wouldn't be surprised if it will do what you want.

get an mp3/cd player :P

or use hjsplit, or soundforge if you want something that can do more but just for splitting, hjsplit :Bingo:

Re:: Program for splitting a long set to fit into a CD

if you're using nero 5 or below it doesn't support splitting files over 100mins long. I know v6 works good and has fade/echo/volume/etc controls, but the drawback is that Nero tries loading the entire file and displaying it graphically when you want to split it, which basically processes the file twice... slow. It's definitely what I use to burn, but not to split files to multiple CDs
i did not know nero could split files. that program does it all. simply great. no?
Yeh dude, I love nero. It doesn't actually split the file, but it lets you add track breaks into the CD. Just add a track break at 80 minutes, then delete the second track from the burn compilation and you have an 80-minute long "track" that you can burn, then repeat the process for each 80-min segment until you get all parts burned. When I burn CDs, I add 5-minute breaks in all my sets so I can easily fast-forward if I need to, then set the pause between each track at 0 seconds so it's a streamlined cd with no actual pause/audio break at each track break.

I also use it at work/home to create bootable cds, svcd, audio/video combo, etc... it's the best
